Living with Persecution
Every so often someone will come into my office and talk about persecution. They indicate that they have been “persecuted” because of their faith. They don’t necessarily use the word “persecuted.” Some say they are belittled and ridiculed, some shunned and ignored, while some are laughed at. It really is persecution. So what do you do when you are persecuted for your faith? Perhaps the following can provide assistance:
- Remember Christ is with you
- Remember what Christ endured and why
- Remember those who have gone before
- Consider the honor of being called by Christ
- Consider the joy of living for Christ
- Remember real life and rest is in heaven
If you find yourself subject to ridicule for your faith, use this prayer for comfort and strength:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the persecution You suffered on my behalf, which gives me new and eternal life. Thank You for giving me faith in You, which gives my life, purpose, meaning and true joy. Thank You for counting me worthy of living the Gospel. Grant me the strength to withstand those who would ridicule my faith. Let me be a patient witness to them of the difference You make in a person’s life. I ask this in Your name and to Your glory. Amen.
Thanks for your partnership in prayer,
Pastor Raasch
