Communication is the Key to Any Relationship

In my marriage counseling I often hear couples tell me that their troubles are exacerbated because they lack communication. They’re too busy to talk. Schedules don’t allow them to spend time together. The many commitments and responsibilities they confront occupy their time. It is amazing that so many troubles could be solved if couples would just spend time together to talk and to listen.

It’s the same in our relationship with the Lord. We all have challenges in our lives. We live in an imperfect world, we live among imperfect people and we, ourselves, are imperfect people. It is natural for us to confront trials and troubles.

This is why Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weak and heavy burdened (Matthew 11:28). He is always ready to listen to us and to speak to us. The question is, are we ready to listen to Him and speak to Him?

Each day, whether we are filled with joy or sadness, we need to take time to be with the Lord. We need to listen to Him as He speaks to us through His Word and we need to speak to Him in prayer, sharing our concerns and offering our praise.

Your most important relationship is with your Savior. Receive His invitation to listen to Him and react by speaking to Him.

Praying for One Another

All our marriages that we may serve the Lord by loving and caring for one another.
Rich Erickson as he travels to Ghana, Africa to assist farmers in using their wisdom, talents, and resources.
All who battle COVID. Pray that the Lord would give to them healing. Continue to pray for the Lord’s intervention that this virus would be defeated.
All who battle cancer, including John Watt, Peggy Jaeger, Wayne Kokta, Gary Bergin, Jim Melichar, Pastor Joel Brandt, Jayne Peterson and Tim Koehler. Pray that the Lord would bless their treatments, relieve their pain and strengthen them and their families in faith.
Dick Larson, Carol Larson and Craig Raatz, as they contend with ongoing health issues. Pray for their medical teams, that God would bless them and use them as His instruments of healing.

PRAYING FOR FIL MINISTRIES & OTHERS

Our February Mission of the Month is Eyewitness for Life. Eyewitness for Life is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate pregnant women about their baby’s development through the use of ultrasound images. All ultrasound examinations are provided FREE of charge. We compassionately support women who are considering abortion by providing an educational ultrasound examination which introduces them to the development of their unborn baby.

Those words can bring a sigh of relief to a person going through a difficult time in life. A Stephen Minister is willing and able to care for you by listening and being there while you work through this tough time. If this sounds like the kind of care for you or a friend, please call Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610. He will help you decide whether or not a Stephen Minister would be a good move for you or a friend.. The friend need not be a member of First Immanuel or River of Life.

· Woman’s Bible Study - 9:00 am 2nd & 4th Tuesday mornings River of Life—Resumes April 13th

· Wednesdays - 9:00 am & 7:00 pm First Immanuel.

· Breakfast Bible Study - 6:00 am, Friday morning once a month on the First Immanuel campus. Next Study February 5th

· Men’s Round Table - 7:30 am 1st & 3rd Saturday mornings on the First Immanuel Campus.

Volunteer Opportunities

· Milwaukee Rescue Mission - Help serve a Meal Tuesdays from 3:00-6:30 pm. If you are interested in volunteering contact Karl at: [email protected]

· Altar Flowers - Please consider signing up to provide flowers for the altar. This is a great opportunity to help enhance the worship area.
