THE POWER OF PRAYER
Often, when we hear stories about prayer’s power, we are told of cancerous tumors that disappear, people who escape burning buildings unscathed and rescues from life-threatening peril. While these are amazing stories of victory, the power of prayer that Jesus displayed was a bit different.
On a Thursday evening Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with His disciples. He mentioned that one of them would betray Him. Confused, they vowed their commitment to Him.
Knowing what was to come, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He knelt in prayer to His Father in heaven. Jesus knew the pain He would suffer. There was the physical pain inflicted by the whip, the crown of thorns and the nails of the cross. Even greater than these instruments of bodily torture was the spiritual anguish Jesus would suffer on the cross as He assumed the punishment of the world’s sin by being separated from the heavenly Father, literally suffering hell.
Fully understanding the immense pain to come, Jesus prayed. He prayed for the strength to fulfill the will of the heavenly Father. He prayed with such intensity that His sweat fell as drops of blood.
The power of prayer is definitely found in praying, not for our will, but for God’s will. We join Jesus in praying for the Father’s will to be accomplished in us and through us, no matter how challenging that might be. That’s real power!
Thank you for your partnership!

PRAYING FOR FIL MINISTRIES & OTHERS
Our April Mission of the Month is
Gideon’s International.
Over the past years we have partnered with this Christian organization, supporting their endeavor of sharing God’s Word with the world.
Gideons International is an Association of Christian business and professional men and their wives dedicated to telling people about Jesus through associating together for service, sharing personal testimony, and by providing Bibles and New Testaments. While we are often recognized for our work with hotels, we also place and distribute Scriptures in strategic locations so they are available to those who want them, as well as to those who may not know they need them.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 How does Stephen Ministry work? When someone requests a Stephen Minister, one of our referral coordinators will meet with that person, explain what Stephen Ministry is, and help determine whether Stephen Ministry is the kind of care that the person needs. The referral coordinator then matches that person with one of our available Stephen Ministers. The Stephen Minister then calls that person and will begin meeting with the person for about an hour each week as long as the need is there. Everything a care receiver says to the Stephen Minister is kept confidential. The Stephen Minister does not try to solve problems; rather, the Stephen Minister listens, cares, prays and helps the care receiver find the path to the healing and wholeness that God provides. If you or a friend would like to receive care from a Stephen Minister, please call Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610. Please be certain to ask permission before referring that person.
