Dear Christ Lutheran Church Family and Friends,
Grace and peace to you!
This Sunday, we hear the familiar and powerful parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37)—a story that both comforts and challenges us. It invites us to see ourselves in each character: the priest, the Levite, the Samaritan, and even the man left beaten and broken by the roadside. Some days we are the ones who offer help. Other days, we pass by. And sometimes, we are the ones in desperate need of mercy and healing.
As followers of Christ, we are called not only to respond to immediate needs but also to recognize the divine image in every person—to celebrate their God-given gifts, strengths, and potential. Every neighbor and every community is filled with treasures entrusted by God. Our mission is to uncover those gifts and work together to build God’s beloved community.
Our prayers continue for the people of Kerr County, Texas, affected by the recent floods. If you feel moved to help, please consider giving through these trusted Lutheran partners:
Your gifts bring hope, healing, and tangible help—and remind us that we are all connected through Christ’s mercy.
Thank you for being a community that listens to Jesus’ call, sees the face of the neighbor, and extends the same mercy we ourselves have received. May our life together shine with the compassion of the One who came not to be served, but to serve.
A quick reminder: Our New Member Class will be held tomorrow, Saturday, July 12, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Blessings

Help Plant Seeds of Faith — Become a Sunday School Teacher!
Good News!!! Our Sunday School is growing!! We have a lot of great plans for a fun school year, but we need your help!! We need more Sunday School teachers. Though our biggest need is the elementary school level, we would be happy to accept volunteers at all levels.
If you agree to teach, you would not be committed to every Sunday. Our teachers volunteer on a rotating schedule and can pre-sign up for dates.
If you feel called to help the youngest members of Christ Church grow in faith and understanding of the scriptures please speak to Joan Taylor-Wheatley, Pastor Geleta or any member of the Faith Formation Team.

Creation Care: Say No! to Plastic Bags
Here’s another tip for Plastic-Free July! International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed each year on July 3 to raise awareness about the impact of single-use plastic bags—and encourage the shift toward sustainable alternatives. It’s a wise Creation-Care person who has adopted these habits every day throughout the year!
- Keeping a few foldable fabric bags in the car or backpack
- Storing a reusable produce bag set in the kitchen or purse
- Taking a cooler bag for groceries that need to stay cold
- Using a basket, backpack, or even a cardboard box as a plastic-free carry option
- Reusing any bags or disposing them properly-never in the curbside recycling bin

Families Return to the BOS Shelter — Thanks to You!
We now have six families (6 moms and seven children ages 4-19) are in the shelter, occupying fifteen beds. Once these families are settled, we will continue to bring in additional families until all 30 beds are filled.
Our 6-week Summer Learning Initiative, generously funded by the Summer Funding Collaborative (Bloomberg Philanthropies & the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation), began on Monday, 6/30. This program provides daily academic enrichment and recreation from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for 13 children in our Aftercare Program (former shelter residents now engaged in our 3-year case management services and children living in the shelter). Participants range from Kindergarten to 8th grade.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Your continued support has made reopening the shelter a reality, and we are truly grateful.
BOS 2025 Gala
A big thank you for making our largest annual fundraising event a success! It was our largest attending event to date with almost 300 attendees and one of our highest grossing raising $131,000. This provides the shelter with critical funding to maintain quality staffing and supportive services. Thank you! Be sure to stop by the website to look at the pictures.
