Mary Magdalene Church

~Weekly Update~

Mary Magdalene Church is an inclusive church in the Catholic tradition where people from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to the Lord’s table. We strive to live the values that Jesus taught, to honor and respect each individual and to share the joy of God’s unconditional love in our community and beyond.

Once again, an email scam is afoot using the name Rev. Lori Vail (but a different email) to ask for money and contact. PLEASE DO NOT respond to it.

I will never email you asking for money or assistance. Not ever. Just delete and move on with your lovely day.

Truly, Rev. Lori

~A Message From the Joyce Martelli~

Dear Denise,

Some months ago, we mentioned an app that makes it easy for you to reach your members of congress and make your voice heard. The app is 5 Calls. This app allows you to select from a number of issues that may be important to you. When you click on the issue it gives you some background information, a possible script for your congressional representative and their names and phone numbers.

The team of 5 Calls researches issues, writes scripts that clearly articulate a progressive position, figures out the most influential decision-makers, and collects phone numbers for their offices.

Try it out by clicking on this link: 5 Calls. We need to continue to let our voices be heard.

With love,

Joyce Martelli

Financial Report for Mary Magdalene Parish Community Forum

This report is a snapshot of our finances through the end of May. Our fiscal year starts on October 1st, so we are 8 months into our current fiscal year.

We began the year with approximately $60,000 in our bank account. Income and Expenses have tracked closely to our budget. During the last 8 months our income was approximately $142,000; and our Expenses: $141,000. So, we are generally even for the year to date. Our Bank Balance as of May 31, 2025: $61,172 (Checking account: $31,172.43; Savings: $30,000.65)

Highlights for the year: we took a leap of faith and engaged in expensive improvements to our facilities and asked our community to fund these with a capital campaign. You may recall that we replaced our aged furnaces with new 95% efficient furnaces and added air conditioning to the sanctuary. This required an upgrade in our electrical service from the utility pole and new electrical panels.  We also completed repairs to our lift and upgraded to energy efficient lighting.

These improvements were funded by a capital campaign.  I’m pleased to report that you, our community, responded to the request, donating $41,264, achieving our goal of $40,910.

Many thanks to you who pledge, donate, and our Inreach/Outreach team for their fundraising efforts!

Please let me know if you have any questions, would like more information, or have any concerns.

CALM Ministry

CALM Ministry is a ministry of listening. We believe the gift of listening helps to alleviate suffering and that the gift of presence is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another. If you are hurting or lonely, we have trained soul-listeners who offer time and space to truly listen in a confidential and non-judgmental manner. CALM Ministers are not counselors and do not offer advice. They do, however, offer a warm heart and a soft landing place. For more information, please see our brochure, or email Lori Cunliff at calm.ministry.mm@gmail.com

Bulletin Announcements

Do you have an announcement you would like to see included in our bulletin? Just email Sue Gerber by Tuesday at 5 pm to have your group's message or activity added to our Wednesday newsletter. sgerber.mmagdalene@gmail.com
