Remaining symptoms on the list include: Fever (100.4°F or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, a new loss of sense of taste or smell, fatigue from an unknown cause, and muscle or body aches from an unknown cause.

COVID-19 Quarantine Timeline Update
|
|
Per updated guidance from the CDC and IDPH, students who are identified as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case may complete a 10-day quarantine (instead of a 14-day quarantine) as long as they are symptom-free during the 10-day period.

Middle School - Expectations for Live-Streamed Instruction
|
|
When we return to full in-person on Monday, April 5, some middle school classrooms will be live-streaming their instruction for remote students. In order to create a positive and productive learning environment for everyone, please note the following expectations:
- Live-streamed instruction may NOT be recorded (video, screenshots, pictures, etc.) and/or manipulated by parents/guardians or students.
- Remote students are asked to create a dedicated space for learning. It is extremely important for students engaged in the remote learning setting to have a specific location in the home that is designated as their “home classroom.”
- The “home classroom” should be located in a place to avoid any distractions or household background noise. Cameras should be on unless the teacher explicitly states they may be off.
- Students should have access to a desk/table, chair, an outlet to plug in the student device, reliable internet access, and various student supplies.

Reminder: Travel Guidance
|
|
The District is following the CDC and IDPH's most recent guidance on international travel. If your student is quarantining due to travel, please submit your absence through the D181 website.
International Travel: Per the CDC and IDPH, anyone returning from international travel is required to:
- Quarantine for 7 days and get a PCR test on days 5-7 with a return on Day 8 OR
- Quarantine for 10 days if not getting tested with a return on Day 11
Note: The day you travel to return home is considered Day 0.
Domestic Travel: There is currently no restriction when returning from domestic travel.
Please note that travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19 and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. Please continue to wear your mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands when around those outside your household.

Hinsdale Middle School eighth-graders had a special World War II learning experience this year in their "World War II Community Museum." HMS teacher Rick Dusek worked with HMS parent and PTO member Stephanie Konieczka to reimagine what WWII Day might look like since the school was unable to host veteran speakers as in years past.
HMS families were invited to share photos, artifacts, and/or stories that were curated into the museum. Cantigny Museum and the Hinsdale Historical Society also contributed artifacts.
The museum was set up on the HMS cafetorium stage, and with the use of its new stage lighting and sound system, the setting truly felt like an out-of-building experience. As students entered the museum, they were given an identity card with the name, photograph, address, and birthdate of a Hinsdale WWII veteran. At the end of the museum, students found their veterans on the Wall of Remembrance and read about their lives and service. Much of this information came from biographies and obituaries provided by the Hinsdale Historical Society.
A "theater" was also set up, where they saw a documentary of Holocaust Survivor Magda Brown. Ms. Brown had spoken to D181 8th graders for more than 15 years on previous WWII days and passed away last summer. There were 12 exhibit tables in all with activities to perform at each table.
Students attended the museum during their social studies classes on March 22 and 23. The project was featured by WGN-TV earlier this week: click here to watch the clip.
