Dear Families of Cedars,

As I stroll solely around the campus in the mist today, I am utmostly aware of everything blooming and the beauty of our natural surroundings; yet, ever present, I miss and mourn in some ways the vibrancy of Spring at Cedars with all of our students and faculty. While these next weeks will be different, we must find ways of sustaining our social connection. In these difficult times, we must work to maintain connections via conversations through social media, electronic gatherings, and other virtual means.

Social connection is more important now than ever (I can't believe I am saying that....I've never truly used social media or wanted to). In the spirit of evolving, we are committed to offering a Facebook Cedars Community page and a Directors forum to give you a sense of what's happening at Cedars still daily! We hope that you will share and reach out regarding your experiences with us and each other as well. These connections will make us stronger as a community and as individuals.

I have faith we will weather this crisis together as a community.  My wish for you at this time is that you can discipline your mind to focus on self-care, self-soothing, and self-kindness!  A  beautiful   prescription  for well-being, Reinhold Niebuhr's Serenity Prayer, (which works well in non-religious and religious contexts):

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can change,
And the wisdom to know the difference between the two.

Be well and make choices that keep others well.
