Two Coastal Rail Line Closures this Month
To facilitate regular maintenance and infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, NCTD will have two weekend rail closures in the month of March. They will be:
- March 11th - 12th
- March 25th - 26th
During these weekend closures, there will be no COASTER service in San Diego County. Some residents living near portions of the rail line, may hear heavy equipment noise and be subject to bright light over the duration of the weekend work. Coastal rail service will re-open for regularly scheduled service in time for the Monday morning commute.

Virtual Bike Education Class: All About E-Bikes
SANDAG hosts quarterly virtual bike education classes that are free and available to everyone. Join their next class on Tuesday, March 14th, at 12:00 PM, to learn all about e-bikes from industry experts at the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. E-bikes are growing in popularity, and they are great for completing short trips around the San Diego region. Given their popularity, however, it is essential that all e-bike riders observe proper safety protocols and observe the rules of the road. This class includes the rules of the road for all bike riders, but focuses specifically on regulations for e-bikes.

It's almost time to “Spring Forward” to Daylight Savings Time which begins this Sunday, March 12, 2023. Remember to set your clocks ahead an hour before going to bed this Saturday night (or at 2:00 AM on Sunday). This, of course, does mean you will lose an hour of sleep, but it also means the sun sets later in the day!

La Colona Park Master Plan
Open for Public Comment
|
The City held a Community Workshop for the La Colonia Park Master Plan in February 2023. In addition to updating the Master Plan, the workshop was also held to introduce and incorporate the recently acquired lot north of the skate park to the Master Plan process and to receive additional input on what recreational amenities and facilities the vacant lot could accommodate for the community. The City invites you to submit your own input on how the vacant lot will be used. This survey will serve as a basis for the City and its consultants to begin the process of creating a conceptual master plan incorporating the new lot.

Bicycle Friendly Community Survey
The City recently submitted an application to the League of American Bicyclists to renew its status as a Bicycle Friendly Community. To gain a better understanding of local bicyclists' experiences in the City, a public survey has been developed so that bicyclists in the community can provide their input. This survey is open to anyone familiar with or interested in bicycling in the community. The survey will be open through Wednesday, April 5th, and the Bicycle Friendly Community award results are expected to be released in May.
