Weekly Update
John Thornburg
Headmaster
Dear Parents,

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! As we are move toward the close of year, I look back with awe and appreciation for the strength and fortitude of our Malden Catholic community. Just three months ago we were confronted with the seemingly impossible task of re-engineering our academic and student life program from an on-campus to a virtual school experience overnight. The entire MC community has risen to the occasion with grace and fortitude.

Our underclassmen have done an amazing job staying on track and we have compiled a End of School Year List of  information and events for the remainder of the year, which will culminate in a Virtual Award Ceremony on June 3 for the MC girls and June 4 for the MC boys.

As we all know, it has been a very challenging year for Seniors across the country and one of MC's generous benefactors and inspired leaders, Mr. O'Donnell, was also kind enough to share a message of hope and encouragement to our graduating Class of 2020. Mr. O'Donnell, we are so blessed to have you in our MC family!

What's New?

Malden Catholic is honoring the leaders of the Class of 2020 at the Brother Gilbert Stadium with a Senior Spotlight. This week, members of our Student Council joined us at 8:20 PM on the field to recognize their accomplishments over their four years at Malden Catholic. Thank you to Sean Noonan, James Guinee, Jake Morrow and Ralph Carbone for representing our students throughout the year.

Next year, Noonan will attend Trinity College, Guinee will attend Bates College, Morrow will attend College of the Holy Cross, and Carbone will also attend College of the Holy Cross.
MC's Friday Funday
Congratulations to Alex Mesquita '23 for winning our Friday Funday Art Contest! Alex drew a colorful image from the popular anime television series, Dragon Ball Z. Way to go, Alex!

Be sure to join us for the last Friday Funday contest of the year. This week will be the "Pre-quarantine Photo Contest." Share with us the last photo you took in/around Malden Catholic before we left for quarantine. Please send all photos to Mr. McCormack at [email protected] by Friday at noon. The winners will receive a gift certificate and announced next Monday.
MC's Masked Singer
Last week's masked singer was... Theology teacher, Mr. Casey! We received over 100 guesses from students, faculty and parents and most of them identified Mr. Casey. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Do you think you can guess who is behind the mask this week? Enjoy the performance and send your best guess to [email protected]. We will reveal this talented woman or man in next week's Weekly Update. Good luck, everyone!
