For the second concert in its “Music at Cherry Hill” series, Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church
will present resident organist Charles Miller.
The concert will be held at 4:00 p.m.on
Sunday, November 17, 2024
at 24110 Cherry Hill Road, Dearborn
According to Charles Miller, who is the church’s organist and director of music, this is the first of a series of organ recitals in 2024 and 2025 presented to highlight the church’s 2,400-pipe, 1958 Austin pipe organ and to raise significant funds for its immediate restoration and upkeep.
The Sunday afternoon recital titled “Two for One: Organ Demonstration and Recital” will feature a variety of works by J.S. Bach, César Franck, Percy Whitlock, L.J.A. Lefebure-Wely, and Louis Vierne.
During the concert, cameras will be focused on the organ console, which is located in a pit and out of the view of the audience. The audience will be able to view Miller’s hands and feet playing the music and operating the many mechanical controls and projected on large video monitors.
The concert is open to the public and while tickets are not being sold, donations large and small are asked to help support this pipe organ renovation project.
Additional information about the concert is available by calling the church office at
313-563-4800 or visiting the church’s website at www.cherryhillchurch.org.

Supporting our siblings in a season of change:
As many of you may have heard, Starr Presbyterian Church held its final worship service on October 13, 2024.
Our congregation has decided to consolidate with Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Berkley, however, our building and grounds at 1717 W. 13 Mile Road will remain open and operated by the South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless (SOCH) 501C3 non-profit charity.
As part of the transition to SOCH, Starr is in the process of removing assets from the church in the hopes of securing more funding to assist with this mission. As part of this effort, we will be offering the more highly valued assets to our fellow Presbyterian churches at highly discounted prices. Absent any churches being interested in these assets, they will be advertised for sale at fair market value pricing. Items will be posted as they become available, so keep checking back for updates!.
Currently Available:

KAWAI Model MP11 Keyboard: This keyboard was manufactured in 2017 and was purchased by Starr in 2017 for $4,000. It is in “like new” condition. It is estimated to have a fair market value of
$3,000.
We are offering this keyboard to any Presbyterian church that is willing to make a $1,500 donation to Starr’s mission. This represents a 50% discount from fair market value.
