Dear Friends,

It is my greatest honor to represent you in Congress. As always, my mission is to advocate for Upstate New York and the North Country’s priorities at the highest levels of government. Here is a look at my past week working for you in Congress.

My Work This Week for Upstate New York and the North Country

My Statement on Hochul’s Unconstitutional Gun Ban Blocked by a Federal Judge

On Thursday, a federal judge placed a temporary restraining order on Kathy Hochul’s unconstitutional restricted concealed carry law. Now, we are one step closer to ending Corrupt Kathy Hochul’s assault on our fundamental Second Amendment rights and restoring the rights of New Yorkers. Since the beginning, I have stood up against Hochul’s shameful attempt to shred our Constitution when she doubled down on her unconstitutional gun ban even after the United States Supreme Court struck it down. Her direct attack on our Upstate Values has wrongfully declared historical reenactors and lawful gun owners in the Adirondack Park as felons and ended gun show fundraisers for first responders in my district. This must come to an end now.

Just as I proudly supported New Yorkers’ successful challenge to New York’s concealed carry ban in the Supreme Court, I am committed to ensuring Corrupt Kathy Hochul's unconstitutional law is struck down in the Supreme Court. I will continue to bring the concerns of patriots in Upstate New York and the North Country to the highest levels, defend hardworking families, and fight for our Constitutional right to bear arms.

Increasing Seniors’ Access to Healthcare

I am proud to support bipartisan legislation that will increase seniors’ access to healthcare in rural communities by supporting pharmacies that serve seniors. The Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act will make it easier for Medicare patients in underserved communities to receive care by encouraging pharmacists to serve seniors by providing services such as immunizations, diabetes management, blood pressure screenings, and routine checks. This will save patients in underserved areas and rural communities from being forced to travel to the doctor for these basic services. Seniors in Upstate New York and the North Country should not have to drive hours for basic healthcare services when there is an avenue to care closer to home, and I am proud to help our seniors save time and valuable resources through this action.

Calling out Hochul for Failing to Listen to Our Farmers

This week I joined Doug Goudie on WGY Mornings to call out Kathy Hochul for hurting hardworking New Yorkers by selling out with her corrupt pay to play scheme and ignoring farmers in her Far Left Farm Labor Wage Board’s overtime decision.

It is shameful that Kathy Hochul, who was ultimately in charge of the Farm Laborer Wage Board’s decision process, completely ignored farmers. I have been continuing to hear firsthand from farmers, bringing their concerns to the highest levels, attending public events to shed light on this devastating decision on their behalf, and working to make Kathy Hochul and Downstate Democrats listen to the concerns of our Upstate farmers who grow and produce our food and feed our communities. This is just another example where Kathy Hochul is selling out to radical Far Left Democrats and hurting hardworking New Yorkers.

I will continue to adamantly oppose this devastating overtime wage decision hurting farmers and our NY-21 communities.

Revealing Taxpayer Dollars Funding China, Committing to Oversight and Accountability

Following my advocacy, the Government Accountability Office undertook a study to account for the total amount of American taxpayer dollars that have gone to China for research efforts, and their findings are troubling. Since 2015, the CDC, NIH, and DoD have all sent over $28 million taxpayer dollars to China for joint research. Even more frightening, we still have no idea how much total money has been sent to China due to lax reporting requirements.

Make no mistake, the Chinese Communist Party’s deception throughout the pandemic confirmed that China is not a reliable partner. I am committed to the critical oversight of American taxpayer dollars and ensuring our agencies are not funding research in China at the expense of American interests.

I joined Sean Hannity Radio to discuss my commitment to a government that is accountable and my oversight to prevent federal funds from going to our foreign adversary, the Chinese Communist Party.

Announcing $1 Million for Citizen Advocates in Malone

I am proud to announce that Citizen Advocates’ St. Lawrence locations will receive a million from the Department of Health and Human Services to invest in its Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic expansion to support mental health and addiction services in the region. These taxpayer dollars will return to our district to support Citizen Advocates’ important mental health work that has already proven to make a critical difference in our communities. I look forward to witnessing how these federal funds will support their mission to provide quality mental health and support our families as the heartbreaking increase in fentanyl overdoses devastates communities in Upstate New York and the North Country.

$125,000 for Adirondack Economic Development Corporation

Adirondack Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) in Saranac Lake will receive $125,000 from the Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund to hire a full-time Business Opportunities Counselor to grow AEDC’s counseling services to disadvantaged clients. I will always bring the concerns of Upstate New York and the North Country to the highest levels and was proud to support the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation in their pursuit of this grant funding and help secure this result. Now, these funds will return to our district to help support AEDC’s mission to provide services to underserved people and communities and grow its counseling services.
