Tuesday: Time to Vote
Election Day is finally upon us! Access Election Day results on our Voter Guide, f ind your polling place, view sample ballots, and read up on candidates running in local and state elections throughout Dakota County. Vote November 8!

On December 2, our Legislative Breakfast will feature David Schultz, a Hamline University Professor of Political Science who teaches across a wide range of American politics. Schultz will provide a recap of the 2016 Election Results on the federal, state, and regional level.  What's the changing political landscape of Dakota County? What does it mean for the next two years for Minnesota?  Four years or more for the United States? Join us for a lively discussion as he breaks it all down.  Register today.

Series passes and sponsorships are available. Contact Vicki for more information.
Are You Ready for December 1?
New workplace overtime regulations take effect in 30 days. Has your business made the necessary changes to comply with this new federal law?  Simply stated, any employee making less than $47,476 annually must be paid hourly, thereby qualifying them for overtime pay above 40 hours per week. Of course there are more provisions, but find out more on how to safeguard your workplace by reviewing the Fair Labor Standards Act 2016 or reach out for a formal legal opinion.
Be Part of our Inaugural Good Day Dakota County event!
Good Day Dakota County on November 14 will feature an update from the SuperBowl LII Committee! We will hear from Alex Tittle, VP of Business Connect and Corporate Affairs, on the economic impact of hosting an event of this magnitude in our region along with an overview of what is being planned in Minnesota for the SuperBowl in 2018. Alex will also share information on the Business Connect program and the opportunity for qualified diverse and underutilized businesses in Minnesota to get involved. Get registered!

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with other Chamber members, enjoy a delicious lunch and have the chance to win $100! You read that right! Each month we will be drawing the name of one of our member businesses. If there is at least one representative from that business in attendance, the $100 is theirs. If there isn't a representative in attendance, the $100 will be added to the pot for the next month! Thank you to Home Federal for making this exciting addition possible. Your membership really does pay!

First Business Council a Smashing Success
With more than 20 people around the table, your Chamber's first Business Council kicked off last week in Rosemount.  Topics included an update on the City's Comprehensive Plan Amendments, new business opening dates, UMore Park developments, 2017 city proposed budget and its' tax implications, along with an education update from Superintendent Jane Berenz, District 196.
In an effort to keep you better connected with the communities you live and work in, your Chamber is hosting quarterly Business Council meetings in Eagan, Farmington, Mendota Heights, Rosemount, and West St. Paul.
