Matt and his wife, Betsy, reside in Wichita with their 4 kids and a Golden Retriever. He is the Discipleship pastor at Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he has been on staff for 13 years. He went to college at Sterling College in small town Kansas and did his seminary work at Fuller Seminary. Growing up in Minnesota, he is a long-suffering Vikings fan and a bandwagon Chiefs fan, until they meet in Superbowl LIX… that day he will be wearing purple. 

Commitment Sunday is this Sunday, October 27th! On Sunday, we'll honor our generous God by making giving estimates for 2025. Bring your Laying the Foundation and Freedom to Flourish estimate of giving cards with you on Sunday and at the end of each service, you will be invited to come forward to offer your estimates. If you can't attend service that day, you can submit your estimate online or mail your card back in the pre-addressed envelope. In case you missed it, we recently announced our Freedom to Flourish campaign! This is a special campaign to raise $235K between now and April 2025 so that Cornerstone can be both debt-free and free to flourish!

Our $1.7 million mortgage loan has been steadily whittled down and the remaining $235K loan balance comes due this May. If we pay it off at that time instead of refinancing it, we will save $24K per year, including $120K in interest over 15 years. If we exceed the goal, any additional gifts will go to the Facility Improvement and Maintenance Fund to ensure we can keep God’s house in good order for years to come.

Prayerfully consider responding to our Freedom to Flourish campaign. Gifts to Freedom to Flourish should be over-and-above your normal giving to the annual stewardship drive and include a notation on the memo line or elsewhere that it is for F2F. Completing the Estimate of Giving card in your stewardship packet will help us plan effectively for the coming months. Tonight's the night! We can’t wait to welcome over 1,000 guests to Cornerstone this evening for our annual Trunk-or-Treat event! We have 71+ people serving with us tonight, 26 trunks registered, and we’ve had 40-50 people serve in the office over the last two weeks helping us prepare! We exceeded our candy goal by raising over 27,000 pieces of candy! We can’t thank you enough for your donations, your involvement, and your prayers. We can’t wait to serve our community with you this evening!

• Cornerstone Social has planned a guided one-hour Christmas Holiday tour of this historic home. Note: there are stairs and there is no elevator.
• Lunch in the neighborhood is planned following the tour.

Our next Parent Class is starting soon! This class is designed for any parent or guardian looking to help their kids and themselves navigate the ever-growing battle of worry and anxiety. Whether you have a newborn baby or a high school graduate, we invite you to join this community of parents as we learn and grow together! We’ll meet on Sunday mornings in between services starting November 3rd to go through The Worry-Free Parent by Sissy Goff. Use the button below for details and registration.

Bring your family along for a lovely stroll around the Kansas City Zoo! Come and go as you need between 1:00pm and 4:00pm (zoo closes at 5:00pm) on Saturday, November 16th. We will meet at the Zoo Entrance at 1:00pm. Late comers can contact Ashleigh MacGillivray to meet up with the group. Families need to purchase their own tickets for this event and will be responsible for food and drink purchases inside the zoo.
