Author Talk w/ Marty Podskoch (Hybrid)
Just in time for summer travel, join us for an author talk and book signing with award-winning author and historian Marty Podskoch. His new book, The Connecticut 169 Club: Your Passport and Guide to Exploring Connecticut, encourages travelers to visit all of the towns and villages of our beautiful and unique state. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.  

This is a hybrid program, participants may choose to attend this event in person at the Library or view it live from home via Zoom.

K.R.A.B.S Kids Raving About Books (For 5th & 6th Graders)
It's time for the last school-year get-together of our book discussion group for 5th and 6th graders. You are invited to the Library to browse through our new books, snack on cookies and chips, and talk about the books you’re read lately. Complain or cheer, either is fine with us.

Sit to Be Fit: Chair Yoga Series w/ Viki (Virtual)
Move in and around the chair in this yoga fusion class. The best of both worlds, Viki combines breathing and mindfulness with functional fitness moves that will energize you for the day. This 6-week series designed for all levels, including beginner, is fun, challenging, lively, stimulating and empowering! If you have a strap, belt or towel have it handy.

OUTDOOR Celebrate Pride Month Family Story Time (birth-5)
We’ll celebrate Pride Month as we read books, sing songs, and share flannel boards about love and families! We’ll make simple magic scratch rainbow postcard pictures that you can bring home and give to someone you love. 
We have adult and child-sized Adirondack chairs available or feel free to bring your own chair or picnic blanket.

Lotus Flower Lantern Craft Workshop (In-Person for Teens & Adults)
Join us for a special opportunity to create your own beautiful lotus flower lantern and learn about the Korean culture. The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP) will help us make these beautiful lanterns using colorful paper and wire frames. The KSCPP was created in appreciation for the United State’s support for Korea during the Korean War and in the years that followed.

Pick Up Your Weekly Farm Share @ MTL
Mark Twain Library is partnering with Holbrook Farm to serve as a pick-up location for their weekly CSA. CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture" and is a weekly share of fresh, local vegetables available for pick up at the library every Friday from June 3rd until October 21st, from 1-5 p.m. More information is available here.
Final Exhibit Days
Candleholders Over the Centuries
Final week of the candlestick exhibition that is on display (through May 31st) in the Library. The candlesticks date from the 17th Century Baroque Period to the modern 20th Century and show the various forms, materials and styles used throughout that time period. The various pieces were selected by Barbara Evans of Evans & Co.

Book Fair Donations Update
July 31st Deadline
The final day to drop off books, music and other physical donations for the 61st Annual MTL Book Fair is JULY 31, 2022. All donations must fit in the sheds provided outside the Library. We will then resume taking donations for the next book fair starting September 15th

On Friday, June 10th from 10am-noon we will be hosting fifth graders from John Read Middle School.The Library may be a little noisier than you're used to. Thank you for your patience.
