HAPPY FRIDAY!

Happy new year to you all! I hope you celebrated the start of 2024 safely and in good spirits with family and friends.

As we mark the final days of the festive season, I want to take a moment to look back on 2023 and thank you all for your contributions this past year.

2023 was another impactful year for The Center. Together, we successfully served over 10,000 clients across all programs, and succeeded in many areas, including, but not limited to the following:

  • A significant growth in clients for the DDA program.

  • Achievement of the most consistent highest Stoplight performance by the Model Waiver and Autism Teams.

  • Successful client plan of service (POS) management by the CFP team despite significant delays in POS approval by MDH.

  • The Wellpoint Team attained 100% compliance with all requirements in the FY23 annual Wellpoint/Elevance NCQA pre-delegation audit.

  • Expansion in the Medical Legal Program due to the high volume of client referrals.

  • The HIP team consistently achieved a 98% rate of clients being connected to mainstream benefits such as Medicaid, SSI/SSDI, SNAP, and TDAP.

  • The transition from one Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) to another by the REM Team has been a resounding success. This accomplishment is attributed to the dedicated efforts of the entire REM leadership and team, who worked diligently to ensure a triumphant shift, even taking on additional clients. I am eternally thankful for their contributions!

In addition, the Marketing Team and Fundraising Committee achieved success in hosting The Center's CenterFlix Gala, generating over $100,000 to support the Family Resource Fund.

Working together we made great progress toward achieving our strategic goals that impact all three of The Center’s Strategic Plan Domains of Clients, Coworkers and Company. In short, we accomplished the following:

  • Assessment and development of program growth goals for each program that are realistic based on staffing and ideal caseload targets.

  • Establishment of a Branding Committee that conducted client and stakeholder focus groups to advise on the impact of our brand.

  • Creation of a new business development matrix that establishes criteria for the pursuit of new opportunities by The Center.

  • Deployment of the first All Coworker Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging (DEI&B) survey to better understand coworker opinions and perceptions DEI&B efforts at The Center.

  • Establishment of an acuity system across multiple programs that can assist in determining more balanced workload for coworkers

I was proud to see how quickly we adapted to each new challenge and how teams from across The Center collaborated with one another to make the most of every opportunity. This would include the amazing performance by the First Impressions, Accounting and Finance, Quality Improvement and Outcomes Management, Information Systems, Marketing and Communications, and Human Resources Teams, who have worked hard behind the scenes to make sure The Center functions efficiently.

Over the past year you all demonstrated over and over again our strengths as an organization and made clear that when it comes to The Center, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. This is because we are an ambitious team that sets high goals and a talented team that works hard to achieve them.

2024 is set to be another exciting year for us. We can look forward to continuing to provide excellent indirect or direct services for our clients. I want to thank you for your continued commitment and effort. I am confident that together we will achieve great things in the new year.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy and successful 2024!

Kind regards,

-TTH

Must Know:

CMSA Conference

Congratulations to Erica Bostwick and Dianne Edwards-Barnes who were selected to present at this year’s Annual CMSA Conference. Erica and Dianne will be presenting, Belonging: The Missing Ingredient in DEI Programs.” In a world full of diversity and individuality, the concepts of "belonging" and "fitting in" play crucial but distinct roles in shaping our social interactions, self-identity, and well-being. Their presentation will explore the fundamental differences between belonging and fitting in, emphasizing their unique context in workplace culture and cultural competency within case management. We can’t wait to see them present!

Infection Prevention Measures

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) publicized guidance that healthcare providers in Maryland should wear masks when completing in-person healthcare interactions (See attached). The MDH request is based upon an observed increase in COVID-19, RSV, and flu illnesses across Maryland. See memo HERE.

Therefore, we are implementing the following as precautionary measures effective January 4, 2024 to promote client and coworker safety:

  • Coworkers will complete a self-check prior to completing face-to-face interactions on behalf of The Center (See COVID Policy 99.5: Coworker COVID-19 Symptom Check Survey).
  • Coworkers are not required to document the self-check. Please reach out to Human Resources and/or supervisor if self-check is positive.

  • Coworkers will complete a COVID-19 Risk Survey for Clients (See COVID Policy 99.7: Completing a Client-Related Visit on Behalf of The Center)
  • Coworkers are not required to document the client risk survey check. Please reach out to supervisor if results of client survey are positive.

  • Coworkers may wear masks when visiting the office building (See COVID Policy 99.1 Coworker Requirements While in the Millersville Office Building.

To obtain masks:

  • Coworkers should contact the First Impressions Team to obtain masks (i.e., procedure masks), as necessary.
  • If a one-time, immediate need for masks exists, coworkers may purchase a minimum supply of procedure masks (i.e., please purchase the fewest number of masks pending obtaining masks from The Center) and submit an expense request for reimbursement.

Thank you for your flexibility with the implementation of this requirement-please do the best you can to meet these precautionary safety expectations as soon as possible.

Please also see the COVID-related policies posted on the Hub for additional guidance. Feel free to reach out to Sharyn, Karen, Teresa, Erica or Colby with any questions as we move forward.
