A SCAN OF THE FIELD: INTRODUCING THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING REPORT CASE STUDIES
|
|
Case studies used semi-structured interviews with key informants within each selected organization and an analysis of organizational material (including intake documents, marketing materials, and program evaluations) pertinent to service provision for survivors of trafficking. All key informants consented to participate and interviews were audio recorded and transcribed.

The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood supports innovative, creative projects and programs with the potential to significantly enhance the development, health, safety, education, and/or quality of life of children from birth through age five. To that end, the foundation provides funding in three areas: early childhood welfare, early childhood education and play, and parenting education. Letters of Intent must be received no later than January 31, 2019. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

The funds may be used for a range of activities, including collaborative efforts to identify problems and share ideas that will result in effective responses to ensure victim safety and offender accountability.

Ben & Jerry's Foundation seeks proposals for social and environmental justice projects

The Ben & Jerry's Foundation supports organizations that work to bring about progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. To that end, one-year grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to nonprofit, grassroots community-organizing groups in the United States working to advance social and environmental justice and create sustainable and just-food systems. Grants can be used to support both program and operational costs. The foundation will only consider proposals from grassroots, constituent-led organizations with annual budgets under $500,000 that are using direct action, grassroots, and community-organizing strategies to accomplish their goals. Pre-proposals may be submitted starting February 1, 2019, and must be received no later than April 15, 2019. Upon review, select applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal.

SPSSI: James Marshall Public Policy Fellow
|
The SPSSI James Marshall Public Policy Fellowship trains early career scientists to 1) contribute to the effective use of scientific knowledge about social issues in the formation of public policy at the federal level; 2) educate the scientific community about how research can contribute to the development of public policy; and 3) establish a more effective liaison between social scientists and various policymaking mechanisms.
This position is supported, in part, by an endowment provided to SPSSI by the James Marshall Fund. The fellowship provides support for a postdoctoral-level fellow to work full-time for one year (e.g., September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020) in the United States Congress in Washington, DC.
