New Timeline Proposed for Pilot Knob Road Closure
Due to some utility issues along Pilot Knob Road, the contractor, Max Steininger, Inc., is proposing a slight change to the plan and the timeline for the road closure to help ensure that the project is completed by November 2016. The new proposed date for the closure of southbound Pilot Knob Road is now July 25 with the intent to have southbound traffic restored in September.

Do You Qualify for Unemployment Insurance Relief?
Your Chamber worked on your behalf with legislators on a bill that was signed into law this past session, which enacted $258,215,955.76 in unemployment insurance relief for many Minnesota employers. Letters were recently mailed to those employers who qualify. To receive a portion of the tax relief, an employer:

  • Must have paid UI taxes or had a credit applied to UI taxes in the calendar year 2015.
  • Must pay UI taxes between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.
  • Must not have been assigned an experience rating of 8.9 percent for the calendar year 2015.

Is Your Staff Working Together Across Generations?
Four distinct generations are working together shoulder to shoulder, each with a unique set of attitudes, values and work styles. It used to be that older workers were bosses and younger ones took orders. Now, roles are all over the map and rules are being rewritten. Organizations are feeling the pain of generations as they struggle to manage productivity and morale while maintaining high standards of quality and service in a challenging economy. Our presenter, Bryan Lansing with BridgeWorks, will give you the tools to convert this form of diversity from an obstacle into an opportunity. Register today.

Member Spotlight: Grateful for Peer Network
Ann Bailey, DARTS
I am the President of DARTS, a nonprofit agency serving older adults and their families in and around Dakota County. Our services help people live independently, assist those caring for older adults and volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. I began participating in Chamber events about a year ago and found an instant community with Chamber members. The Coffee Breaks, lunches and Why Not Wednesdays are great ways to hear what's happening and have resulted in new DARTS partners, volunteers and supporters. I use the Weekly Update information to stay current with legislative and economic news and value the personal connections to leaders. I am so grateful for this peer network where I can exchange ideas, seek help and become more embedded in the community.
