Update on Proposed Warehouse Ban

As expected, the proposed warehouse ban Assembly Bill 1000 (Reyes; D-San Bernardino) is back and the bill has been set for a hearing on January 10, 2024 in the Assembly Committee on Local Government.

Assemblymember Reyes has proposed amendments to the bill to attempt to make it appear like a compromise. However, CBPA, along with a coalition of business groups are still strongly opposed and are actively advocating against the bill. CBPA’s updated coalition letter outlines our coalition's arguments in opposition. Stayed tuned for more updates!

CBPA Endorses Proposition 1

Measure Will Address State Homeless Crisis

CBPA recently announced its endorsement of Proposition 1, the $6.38 billion bond initiative spearheaded by Governor Newsom aimed at constructing 10,000 new community behavioral health facilities and residences.

These efforts seek to provide housing and aid individuals of all age groups in California coping with severe mental health conditions and substance use disorders. Proposition 1 is a step in the right direction towards solving one of our state’s biggest challenges.

CBPA Featured in the Chicago Tribune

CBPA President & CEO Matthew Hargrove was featured in the Chicago Tribune discussing the negative impacts of the transfer tax Los Angeles implemented last year - a similar measure to the “Bring Chicago Home” proposal up for a citywide vote in March.
