Making the Chamber Work for You
I'm sure you've probably heard Chamber staff say something along the lines of "In order for your business to receive the maximum amount of benefit from your membership, you must be engaged." We are getting a little affirmation on that statement in this article recently printed in The Business Journal. It talks about the importance of engagement, how to overcome some perceived obstacles, and how chambers of commerce are often an overlooked prospecting tool.

If you aren't engaged with our Chamber, we encourage you to do so today and start reaping the benefits. Unsure how to get engaged? Give us a call, 651.452.9872, or send us an email, and ask, "How can I get more engaged with the Chamber?" It's that easy! We'll talk with you to learn more about your interests to help guide you on what would be the best fit for you. We look forward to hearing from you!
Committed to Business... for YOU.

What Does Transportation, IT, Health Care, Agriculture, and Manufacturing Have in Common?
As your Chamber continues to identify solutions to the workforce crisis, we share with you a variety of resources available. One such resource is an Apprenticeship Grant program available to businesses. Apprenticeships play an important role in employee recruitment and retention and fully support the career pathway concept. Spring enrollment opens this week and runs through June 14. DEED is recruiting in all five industries and Informational Webinars will be held on May 15 and June 8. Learn more here or check out the website for additional information.

Community Support Needed
The Rosemount High School Marching Band has been awarded the opportunity to represent the State of Minnesota in the country's most beloved and iconic holiday celebration- The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They are looking for the community's support because as you can image sending a marching band of over 250 students to NYC is a large and expensive undertaking. Transportation, accommodations, meals and cultural outings are some of the basic expenses for this once-in-a-lifetime trip for these hardworking students. Learn more about the band, the parade and how you can help. Click here to learn more about becoming a sponsor.
Member Spotlight: The Value of Making Connections
Jake Sedlacek, Xcel Energy
I love living and working in Dakota County. As a community relations manager with Xcel Energy, I serve as a resource for our electric and gas customers, as well as for our city and business leaders. I've been at this for 4 years now, and it seems that every day in the energy industry provides new learning opportunities. Prior to working with Xcel Energy, I worked in local government, and always supported the notion of local companies connecting and growing together.
I participate in the Chamber because I have seen firsthand the value of local businesses making connections. My favorite event is Coffee Break - it's a great way to start the work day, touching base with community leaders, and sharing/hearing about exciting developments in the business community. I've also enjoyed being a part of the Business Excellence Awards Committee for the past two years - we have a lot to celebrate, maybe one night a year isn't enough! The Chamber provides a wealth of opportunities for me to represent my company, and build relationships with our customers. I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming event!
