Weekly Update:
Friday, August 5, 2022
Happy August, Cornerstone Family! This Sunday, we're jumping back into the book of Colossians. Our Lead Pastor, Sheldon, is back from vacation and will lead us in a new message series titled, Submission to Christ, which will cover the rest of the book of Colossians, chapters three and four.
Back in May and June, we covered Colossians chapters one and two in a series titled The Supremacy of Christ. Missed that series? Click here. If you need a refresher on the book of Colossians The Bible Project has a great recap video you can access here.

Our services this Sunday will include celebration of the Lord's Supper. We'll also be collecting our Deacons' Fund offering as an outflow of our worship. This fund is designated to assist people in our congregation and community who are struggling financially. You can place your offering in one of the boxes in the Worship Center or give securely online (select "Deacons Benevolence" in dropdown menu).

We look forward to seeing you at Cornerstone at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. online!
Global Leadership Conference
Right now, the Cornerstone Staff Team is attending The Global Leadership Summit. During this two-day conference, we hear new ideas, fresh perspective and inspiring stories form leading experts spanning a wide range of fields and backgrounds. This conference refreshes us as we gear up for fall programming and events. Please pray that we would learn ways to become better leaders and that we would come back renewed and ready to implement what we learned!

ICYMI: New Children's Ministry Director
In case you missed it, last week we announced that the Session interviewed and offered the Children’s Ministry Director position to Ashleigh MacGillivray.
Ashleigh began her new role this week and hit the ground running! We're glad to have her apart of the team. When you see her next, be sure to give her a warm Cornerstone welcome!
Workshop Opportunity
Life is fraught with difficulties, hurts, and disappointments. Heart wounds from the past can have devastating effects long after they have occurred. During the "Trusting God With Our Heart Wounds" workshop, we will explore wounds of trauma or loss and bring those to Christ for healing. Using curriculum from American Bible Society's Trauma Healing Institute Ministry, we will learn biblical principles and mental health best practices related to trauma care.

Topics we will address include:
  • If God loves us, why do we suffer?
  • What is a heart wound and its effects
  • What happens when someone is grieving?
  • How can we forgive others?
