DC CFAR Pilot Award Recipient Dr. Tamara Taggart (GW) was interviewed in the Connecticut AIDS Education and Training Center's podcast “ HIV Update”. The episode posted on January 13 featured Dr. Taggart who discussed her research trajectory and current HIV research activities including her pilot award study PrEP Your Step, a community-engaged program to promote PrEP among young people.

CPC Community Spotlight of the Month: Christian Morris, Community Engagement and Recruitment Specialist, Whitman-Walker Health
Christian Morris is a Community Engagement and Recruitment Specialist in the department of research of Whitman Walker Health. He serves as the Community Co-lead for the Sexual and Gender Minority SIG of the DC CFAR. Christian is also pursuing a career in clinical psychology in order to apply science and empathy to empower individuals to live their best lives.

FUNDING, TRAINING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES
|
|
The MIWI Training Program is a methods training program that supports scholars to investigate the intersection of physical and mental health, with a focus on how that intersection is related to health disparities. The summer institute is in person from June 12 -15 in Ann Arbor, MI. Applications are due March 1st.
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) will host the Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI) from August 15–19, 2022. The goal of the HDRI is to support the research career development of early-career minority health and health disparities research scientists. Applications are due March 14.

The NIH Office of AIDS Research (OAR) has announced a new resource for Early Career Investigators which provides easy access to grant opportunities, basic information, and other resources, such as training and capacity-building programs.
The University of California, San Francisco, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) announces the Ujima Mentoring Program (Ujima Program) which provides multidisciplinary research mentoring and funding to early-stage investigators, particularly those at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), who focus their programs of research on high priority areas that address HIV prevention, care, and treatment in Black/African American communities. Applications are due March 1st.
The 2022 NIH mHealth Training Institute is now accepting applications. This program is designed to develop the next generation of transdisciplinary mHealth researchers. Applications are due February 20.
Join Fellowship opportunity to examine current challenges in HIV and drug abuse research ethics. Applications are due February 23.
The AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) Network in collaboration with the NIAID Division of AIDS (DAIDS) has developed a new pathway for the conduct of small experimental trials that aim to advance efforts related to HIV remission and cure utilizing the infrastructure of the ACTG Network. Applications are due April 1st.
