Dear Friends,

It is my greatest honor to represent you in Congress. As always, my mission is to advocate for Upstate New York and the North Country’s priorities at the highest levels of government. Here is a look at my past week working for you in Congress.

My Work This Week for Upstate New York and the North Country

Announcing an End to Vaccine Mandate and ArriveCAN App Requirements for Northern Border Travel

I am proud to announce that, following my advocacy, Canada will finally drop its vaccine mandate and ArriveCAN app requirements. This is an important step forward to restoring Northern Border travel for our communities and businesses that have been negatively impacted by the restrictions. NY-21 border communities have suffered long enough, and Joe Biden has admitted that the pandemic is over. Yet, Biden continues to fail to drop the vaccine mandate for travel across the Northern Border into the U.S. I will continue to advocate to end all vaccine mandates and regulations that impede Northern Border travel.

Earning Friend of the Farm Bureau Award

I am proud to have earned the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF)’s “Friend of the Farm Bureau” award recognizing my advocacy on behalf of NY farmers. Our farmers are essential to our economy and region, and I have stood up for them against New York’s devastating overtime wage decision. I have also been an advocate for free and fair trade and have worked to preserve milk choices in New York schools. I will continue to put farmers first and bring their concerns to the highest levels, including in next year’s Farm Bill.

This week, I was also honored to host representatives from the New York Farm Bureau and discuss my work to address New York’s devastating overtime decision, agriculture labor issues, and more.

House Republicans’ Commitment to America

I am proud to join my colleagues in announcing the Commitment to America, which will create an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a future built on freedom, and a government that is accountable. Hardworking families are struggling in to buy groceries, fill up their tank of gas, and prepare for the home heating season. Our Commitment to America is focused on solving these issues that were created by one-party Democrat rule in Washington and Albany. House Republicans will rein in inflation, lower the price of energy provide funding for law enforcement, and secure the border to keep our nation safe. We will protect parents, small businesses, and hardworking Americans. I will continue to fight to combat the issues created by the failed Far Left agenda.

My Statement on Pelosi’s Partisan Spending Bill

Today, I stood up against Far Left priorities that have failed hardworking families in New York’s 21st District. House Democrats have spent the past two years ramming through trillions of dollars in partisan spending and increasing taxes to advance Joe Biden’s radical agenda, and now they want to continue this pattern of reckless spending on provisions that will exacerbate the border crisis by providing $1.8 billion for illegal immigrants but zero dollars to secure the border, while also funding Joe Biden’s army of IRS agents which will be unleashed on hardworking, middle-class Americans. While I work every year throughout the appropriations process to ensure New York’s 21st District has a seat at the highest levels, I have a responsibility to hardworking taxpayers in my district and cannot give Lame Duck Speaker Nancy Pelosi the ability to harm families in Upstate New York and the North Country and push through more reckless spending during an unaccountable Congress this December.

Introducing Legislation to Support Skills-Based Hiring During Labor Shortage

While millions of Americans remain out of the workforce in the midst of a labor shortage, I am committed to helping employers broaden their applicant pool and identify talented workers who have gained skills outside of post-secondary education. I am proud to introduce the Advancing Skills-Based Hiring Act to empower job creators to evaluate candidates based what they know how to do, not just where they learned, and more effectively recognize skills gained through prior work experience, military service, life experience, or education. Skills-based hiring expands economic opportunity for the two-thirds of Americans who do not have a four-year college degree, and the federal government should remove barriers for employers who want to use skills-based hiring to strengthen their workforce.

Securing $1 Million for Plattsburgh Airport Industrial Park

Following my advocacy, $1 million of taxpayer dollars will return to Clinton County to update a manufacturing facility at the Plattsburgh Airport Industrial Park. I am committed to bringing the concerns of NY-21 to the highest levels, which is why I worked throughout the appropriations process to include this priority for our district. This grant from the Small Business Administration will transform a dilapidated multipurpose facility into a modern industrial building ready to host new high-tech businesses and strengthen the economy of the North Country.

Slamming Woke Agenda to Cancel Columbus Day in NY

I oppose Far Left Albany Democrats’ attempt to rewrite history in pursuit of their woke agenda and cancel Christopher Columbus. Replacing Christopher Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day is just virtue signaling to the Far Left and fails to provide support for Native American tribes. Columbus paved the way for us to set up our own nation and Constitutional Republic, and New Yorkers have celebrated Columbus day since 1792. Upstate New York takes pride in our history, and I will not let this radical, woke agenda erase the name of such an important historical figure.
