Dear Friends,

It is my greatest honor to represent you in Congress. As always, my mission is to advocate for Upstate New York and the North Country’s priorities at the highest levels of government. Here is a look at my past week working for you in Congress.

My Work This Week for Upstate New York and the North Country

Opening New Flagship District Office in Rensselaer County

Today, I was honored to open up the new NY-21 flagship Congressional district office in Rensselaer County. This new office will carry out effective constituent casework and prioritize work on behalf of families, small businesses, seniors, veterans, farms, and all constituents as they navigate federal agencies and access federal funds. Since 2015, my office has completed over 13,500 casework requests and returned over $700 million back to New York’s 21st District by navigating federal agencies and advocating for grants to serve our communities. I look forward to continuing this critical work in East Greenbush to bring the concerns of Rensselaer County and all of New York’s 21st District to the highest levels.

This new office is located at the Rensselaer County Office Building on 99 Troy Road, East Greenbush, New York. I will also have district offices in Plattsburgh, Ogdensburg, and Herkimer County.

Joe Biden’s Northern Border Crisis

From the beginning, I have stood up for our border patrol and warned against how Joe Biden’s Southern Border crisis has forced border patrol agents in our district into no-notice deployments, weakening morale and leaving security openings at the Northern Border. But it has taken an 846% increase in illegal crossings at the Northern Border for him to admit his crisis.

Now, Biden’s border crisis has weakened the security of the Northern Border to such an extent that border patrol leadership is asking for agents to voluntarily deploy to New York's Northern Border due to a dramatic increase in illegal crossings.

Instead of addressing this crisis, Joe Biden has passed the buck and shipped his crisis to New York State with assistance from Kathy Hochul and Eric Adams, who both support policies to incentivize illegal immigrants to continue to pour into New York. Our taxpayers, border patrol agents, and Upstate communities are unfairly bearing the brunt of this crisis. My office is in touch with numerous families along the Northern Border who are documenting vast amounts of illegals crossing their own properties.

Joe Biden has brought his deadly humanitarian crisis to the Northern Border, and communities along the U.S.-Canada border should not have to bear the brunt of his failure. This week, the Vermont State Police reported a man who died shortly after crossing the Northern Border this past Monday.

This should not be happening. Since the beginning, I have called attention to how Biden’s failure to enforce the law at the Southern Border will devastate our Northern Border security. We must secure our borders.

Standing Against Albany’s Decision to Jeopardize NY Farms

This week, the New York State Department of Labor moved forward to adopt regulations to lower the overtime threshold from 60 hours to 40 hours. With this move, Albany Democrats have ignored the concerns of farmers across New York State by adopting regulations to lower the overtime threshold, which jeopardizes the future of New York's agriculture industry and will put thousands of farm laborers out of work.

This out of touch decision makes New York less competitive and will exacerbate the existing labor shortage our farmers are already facing. Upstate New York and the North Country are home to thousands of dairy farmers, apple growers, and maple producers, who work tirelessly to provide for our communities, but are now forced to bear the burden of another wrong decision made in Albany. While Albany Democrats prove their priorities are not for Upstate, I will always support our farmers, because I understand: No farms, no food.

Events Across NY-21 this Week

I was honored to join the Adirondack Regional Chamber’s Lunch with Your Legislators in Warren County this week! I shared my work to strengthen our rural communities, expand broadband access, and support small businesses by equipping our workforce and employers and strengthening rural childcare.

This week, I met with Amsterdam Industrial Development Agency to discuss their important work strengthening the community’s economy and revitalizing the city.

Wonderful tour on Thursday with American-Made manufacturer Mohawk Lifts in Amsterdam to see their work firsthand designing, welding, and manufacturing heavy duty auto lifts. I look forward to supporting their important work as an American manufacturer and important employer in our district.

This morning, I joined Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Legislative Breakfast to discuss my work supporting small businesses, farms, manufacturers, workforce development, and local economic development projects in New York’s 21st District. I was thankful for the opportunity to answer questions!
