Dear Friends,

It is my greatest honor to represent you in Congress. As always, my mission is to advocate for Upstate New York and the North Country’s priorities at the highest levels of government. Here is a look at my past week working for you in Congress.

My Work This Week for Upstate New York and the North Country

Opposing Tax Increases on Middle Class Families, House Democrats’ Army of IRS Agents

As every family in Upstate New York and the North Country is suffering from the highest inflation in 40 years, I strongly opposed House Democrats’ radical spending bill that will raise taxes and crush hardworking families and small businesses. Today’s historic inflation is a direct result of reckless spending by one party Democrat rule in Washington, and as Democrats double down on their failed agenda to spend hundreds of billions more, they have made their priorities clear, and they are not for the American people.

This bill wastes $350 billion on “Green New Deal” provisions that prioritize large cities over rural communities and would worsen the energy crisis by creating an American Energy Tax, which would make families pay more for gas and home heating. It will also add 87,000 new IRS agents, increasing audits on middle-class Americans and small businesses.

I will continue to stand up against reckless government spending and any tax increases, as well as work to rein in out-of-control inflation to bring down the price of gas and groceries.

Calling on Hochul to Stop Influx of Illegal Immigrants to New York

Due to Joe Biden’s open border policies and Kathy Hochul’s policies that incentivize illegal immigration to New York State, every state is a border state, but I am proud to stand up for the safety of our communities and call for a reversal of these policies.

This week, I joined my colleagues in calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to support the repeal of New York’s “Green Light” law, which allows undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses in New York and prevents federal immigration officials from accessing the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles records without a search warrant.

Additionally, I’m pressing Hochul to finally speak out against the transportation of illegal immigrants into New York by the Biden Administration, permit and encourage more coordination and cooperation between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, and repeal New York’s many incentives that reward illegal entry.

As the influx of immigrants into New York continues, New Yorkers deserve to know what sort of vetting these migrants have gone through, why they are being relocated, where they will stay, who was involved in this decision-making process, and so much more.

My Statement on the FBI's Raid of President Trump

The FBI's raid on President Trump's Florida home is a dark day in American history. The political weaponization of the FBI and Department of Justice is an actual threat to democracy.

There is a reason that Americans no longer trust these agencies. This is the same corrupt agency that illegally fabricated FISA warrants, knowingly deceived Americans about Russian "collusion" for years, and weaponized itself to perpetuate this hoax with their all-too-eager mainstream media accomplices. This is the same agency that protected Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and continues to lie to protect Hunter Biden. This is the same agency that refuses to provide accountability and transparency into the deadly limo crash in Schoharie County in my district.

There must be an immediate investigation and accountability into Joe Biden and his Administration’s weaponizing this department against their political opponents – the likely 2024 Republican candidate for President of the United States.

I joined my colleagues on the House Permanent Select Committee to call for accountability of the FBI.

Good News for Upstate New York and the North Country

Announcing $1 Million for St. Lawrence Health System

The St. Lawrence Health System will receive $1 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the form of a Rural Development grant. I am proud to work to support our rural hospitals as they overcome unique challenges, and this investment will help the St. Lawrence Health System address lost revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic. The St. Lawrence Health System is critical to providing essential healthcare services to families in rural communities, and these taxpayer dollars will return to our district to ensure it can continue to meet the community’s healthcare needs.

Research Grant for Clarkson University

Clarkson University is conducting impressive research on issues that impacts many Americans, including addressing security threats. It will now receive $200,000 from the National Science Foundation. This grant will support a research project to develop a holistic quantum-inspired framework to address the cyber risks and operational challenges for decentralized power grids. As these taxpayer dollars are returned to our district to continue Clarkson's important work, I look forward to witnessing its impact on quantum research and breakthroughs for the future.
