Visiting the Chamber Office and Surrounding Businesses
Over the next few months, getting to your Chamber's office might be a little tricky but please don't let that keep you away! Reconstruction of Pilot Knob Road between 35E and Northwood/Central Parkway are currently underway to add right turn lanes at Northwood/Central Parkway, lengthen the left turn lanes at Yankee Doodle Road, add a third lane for traffic on southbound Pilot Knob and the reconstruction of the trail on both sides of Pilot Knob.

Currently, there is a lane open in both directions on Pilot Knob Road but the southbound lane will be closing in mid-August. Once the southbound lane is closed, we want to be sure that you know how to get to our office so check out this detour map so you can plan accordingly.

While you are over seeing us, please sure sure to visit the area businesses as well since they will all still be open for business during the construction!
Committed to Business... for YOU.
Do You Qualify for Unemployment Insurance Relief?
Your Chamber worked on your behalf with legislators on a bill that was signed into law this past session, which enacted $258,215,955.76 in unemployment insurance relief for many Minnesota employers. Letters were recently mailed to those employers who qualify. To receive a portion of the tax relief, an employer:

  • Must have paid UI taxes or had a credit applied to UI taxes in the calendar year 2015.
  • Must pay UI taxes between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.
  • Must not have been assigned an experience rating of 8.9 percent for the calendar year 2015.

Business Feedback Needed for East-West Transportation Study
Do you transport your products East -West through Dakota County?  Where do your employees commute to and from?  Dakota County is undergoing an East -West Transportation Study and is seeking business feedback.  We all recognize that East - West routes in Dakota County are insufficient to keep up with the growing demand.  Get involved in this important discussion.  Learn more here.

To offer other opportunities for input, Dakota County has launched a website to gather input on where transit trips are desired, physical challenges that exist to using transit and information on the study.  There is also an opportunity to sign up for email updates on the study.  Additionally, if you are interested in serving on an Advisory Committee, please contact Vicki Stute at 651.452.9872.

Orange Cones for Highway 110 in 2017

construction_hard_hat.jpg Your Chamber attended a special meeting hosted by MnDOT regarding the planned construction project for Highway 110 from Highways 13/55 to I-494 in Summer 2017.  The improvement project will cause significant disruptions during the construction period.  We encourage you to be prepared and plan ahead to ensure your customers know the best access routes for your business.
The project includes pavement, drainage, signing, and pedestrian improvements, including a Dakota County grade separated facility just east of Highway 149/Dodd Road.
A second informal public meeting will be held in August.   For more information related to the project, click here Watch your Weekly Update for additional information.
