Minnesota's Budget Forecast & Your Priorities
Big issues loom at the State Capitol at the halfway point of the 2017 legislative session. While legislators delivered on healthcare relief and federal tax conformity in the first few weeks, many high profile issues remain undecided. In January, Legislators received an updated budget forecast showing a $29 million dip for the fiscal year. While individual income tax and corporate franchise taxes were under projections, sales taxes and other revenues over-performed.

Register today for our March 3 Legislative Breakfast, in partnership with the Minnesota Retailers Association, to find out what the recent February forecast means from the Minnesota Center For Fiscal Excellence as well as hear how legislators think the updated numbers impact undecided issues at the Capitol like transportation funding and commercial property tax relief.
Panel members include:
  • Mark Haveman, Executive Director, Minnesota Center For Fiscal Excellence
  • Representative Sarah Anderson, State Government Committee Chair, Minnesota House of Representatives

Last week, your Chamber hosted its first Mendota Heights Business Council.  Representatives from the MN Department of Transportation and Dakota County were on hand to provide details of the Highway 110 Road Improvement Project, beginning in June. The City of Mendota Heights also presented details of a new planned development project at the corner of Highway 110 and Dodd Road. Member Spotlight: Connecting with Others
Kari Krummel, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union
I am a branch manager at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. I have been with Affinity Plus for 15 years and I absolutely love what I do! We are a not-for-profit credit union that prides itself on treating our members with integrity, caring and excellence. One of the ways I find life most meaningful is when I am able to connect with and support others, whether that is through my professional work, my personal life, or through volunteerism. Working at Affinity Plus has allowed me to continue to help others, through the members we serve every day. Another way I have been able to connect with others, get involved in my community, and build the recognition of our business name, has been through the Dakota County Regional Chamber. The Chamber is connected and committed to its chamber members, providing solid professional and educational opportunities, promoting new businesses, and hosting networking events. I have very much enjoyed getting to know the other chamber members, the other businesses in my area, and gaining skills at the same time by attending some of their many seminars and events.
