Comcast Now Delivering 1 Gigabit Internet
Comcast has launched a new internet service that delivers speeds of 1 gigabit internet in the Twin Cities.
The new 1 gigabit internet service will use existing communications lines that are already in most people's homes; Comcast is using DOCSIS 3.1 technology to deliver these speeds over the existing network infrastructure.
To enjoy the service, all customers need to do is install a new DOCSIS 3.1 compatible cable modem that is capable of delivering gigabit speeds. There is no charge for a professional install for 1 gig service, and no monthly fee for the modem.
