The Emanuel Synagogue UPDATES
Week of Jan. 31, 2023 / 9 Shevat 5783
|

FYI Scribe in the House!
Sofer on Site Feb. 1 - 2
Rabbi Moshe Druin from the Torah repair group Sofer On Site will be at The Emanuel to examine, evaluate and appraise our 22 sifrei Torahs. So he may work without interruption, please do not enter Koret Hall, Wed., Feb. 1 - Thurs., Feb. 2. Thank you Hoffman Summerwood for partnering with the Emanuel to provide housing and meals for Rabbi Druin during his visit.
Once Sofer On Site completes the assessment, the Torah Repair Project Committee, chaired by Randie Fierberg and Tamar Margolis, will begin plans for a major fall fundraiser; this will include many opportunities for the congregation to get involved 'hands-on' in the Torah scroll scribe and repair process.
Stay tuned for future announcements about events later this year or contact Randie or Tamar directly for details on how you can get involved.

Topic: Physical Choreography of Jewish Prayer
Many of us have learned physical movements to go along with Jewish prayer. How old are these motions, and why do the rabbis say they are important? We'll also look at ancient sources for disability accommodations.
