Uniform State Labor Standards: Awaiting final action
ADA Lawsuit Reform: Passed both the House and Senate.
Transportation Funding: Final bill vetoed by Governor. Awaiting next steps.

 Did You Know?
Memorial Day is coming up on Monday, May 29 and commemorates those who have died in military service of the United States. It was originally known as Decoration Day - an occasion to decorate the graves of the war dead - and was created in the aftermath of the Civil War. Read more
Immigrants in the Workforce
As business owners, managers and community leaders, you recognize the significant labor shortage challenges now and in the future. Minnesota's population is projected to grow at a significantly slower rate beginning in 2030. Its population will also age and become more diverse. The future strength of Minnesota's, and our regional, economy depends on attracting and integrating immigrants into its workforce. As part of your Chamber's workforce development strategy, we're working with a number of community partners to bring to you - our members - resources and information that will assist in your continued growth as you face this ever-growing challenge. One such resource is a recent study commissioned by The Committee on Minnesota Workforce and Immigrants and the University of Minnesota Office of the Vice President for Research. To learn more, we invite you to view and download the report and appendices.
The Vikings are Coming!
Vikings Celebrate Steel Topping Off at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center
The Minnesota Vikings, Crawford Architects, Kraus Anderson, and Twin Cities Orthopedics celebrated a major construction milestone on the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center as the last piece of structural steel was recently installed.
To commemorate the steel "topping off," construction crews hoisted the final piece of steel, which was recently painted white and signed by Vikings staff and construction workers, into position along with the traditional evergreen tree and American flag.
More than 1,300 tons of steel were installed in the headquarters while 2,200 tons were used for the Vikings indoor practice facility (IPF). The IPF stands at a height of 113 feet with a 100-foot clearance to fully accommodate kicking and punting. The roof trusses span 220 feet from north to south and are 12 feet wide at their midpoint. The steel was fabricated by Ted Mannstedt and Son in La Crosse, WI, and erected by Danny's Construction Company in Shakopee, MN.
To date, construction crews have logged more than 80,000 hours on the project and more than 130 workers are on site daily. Of the 38 subcontractors awarded work thus far, 32 are Minnesota-based. The project remains on time for a March 2018 opening.

Member Spotlight: Building Relationships
Emily Bohmbach, Manager of Partnership Activation, Minnesota Vikings
Raised in Red Wing, I started with the Vikings in 2011 working on the Partnership Activation & Special Projects Team. Throughout the U.S. Bank Stadium build, I was involved heavily in the curation and installation of the U.S. Bank Stadium Art Collection as well as managing partnerships with Founding Partner build-outs such as the Delta Sky360 Club, Hyundai Club, BWW Club, Factory Motor Parts Club, Miller Lite Lounge, and Caribou Bar. After getting married, my husband Jimmy and I moved to Eagan in 2016, in preparation for the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center to be built. Since joining the Dakota County Regional Chamber Board in 2016, I've enjoyed building relationships with Chamber board members as well as attending Good Day Dakota County, Women's Conference, and the Business Excellence Awards. I look forward to the TCO Performance Center opening in March, 2018, and extending the Vikings family throughout Dakota County.
