Weekly Update | March 21, 2020
Coronavirus is causing many changes and with that comes questions. There were many announcements within the last week or so on taxes, student loan payments, unemployment benefits, and much more. I have a page on my website with useful links to trusted, official sources of information, including guidance we've received so far from Governor Pritzker on his "shelter in place" executive order.

The situation changes daily and the links provided will keep you up-to-date. Visit rodneydavis.house.gov/coronavirus or click the image above to check it out.

I'm working to ease the hardship many Americans could feel the longer this goes on and ensure our local and state governments have what they need to effectively contain this outbreak as soon as possible.

I understand these are confusing times and difficult for many. If you have any questions, please call my office at (217) 403-4690 or e-mail me. We will do our best to answer your questions or connect you with the right agency.

Talking to Our Hospitals & Getting Them What They Need
I've been speaking with many of hospitals throughout the 13th District. One issue I heard most was about the need to free up personal protective equipment (PPE) for more coronavirus testing and treatment. I successfully worked with Governor Pritzker to issue new guidance to hospitals that would free up, according to one hospital, nearly 40% of their PPE. We all need to work together to contain this virus.
Davis discussed this issue with WAND-TV's Doug Wolfe this week. Click here or video above to watch.

Advocating for Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
Helping businesses and employees weather this pandemic is critical. We have to make sure people have the help they need now, but also jobs to go back to.

Donating Blood is More Important Than Ever
Joined the Central Illinois Community Blood Center to launch the #GiveBloodChallenge. During these uncertain times, it’s important to remember that blood centers still need people to donate - it saves lives.

  • Blood collections are down by 60% because of cancelled blood drives due to coronavirus
  • Every 2 seconds someone needs blood
  • FDA has stressed the coronavirus does not pose any known risk to blood donors

I challenge my fellow Members of Congress and those who can safely do so to visit their local blood center and donate.

Impact on College Students and Parents
The 13th District is home to 8 colleges/universities and 8 community college districts. Many have made changes since coronavirus.

I talked with WMBD while moving my twin boys out of their dorm at Illinois State University. I witnessed anxious parents, disappointed students, and a local economy that is going to be further hurt by their absence. We're working in Congress to provide relief to those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
