|
DC CFAR Pilot Award Recipient Dr. Adeline Koay (Children's) and CPS Core Scientific Advisory Dr. Natella Rakhmanina (Children's) and colleagues published an article in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes December 2021 entitled " Brief Report: Supporting Access to HIV Care for Children and Youth During the COVID-19 Pandemic With Telemedicine and Rideshare". The authors report that despite the scale-up of telemedicine and rideshare services to improve access to HIV care among children and youth in DC, laboratory testing rates were lower for patients who used telemedicine compared to patients who attended in-person visits. Reassuringly, viral suppression rates and visit completions rates were stable before and during the pandemic.
