Finding Steadfast Grace in Changing Seasons

Dear Friends,

As the month of October draws to a close, it is impossible to ignore the signs of change all around us. The leaves have put on their vibrant display, the air carries a distinct autumn crispness, and the days are growing noticeably shorter. And don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday night!

There is a rhythm to every season, and in that rhythm of God’s creation, autumn gives us a powerful visual reminder of transition. As the leaves change and eventually fall, we are taught that there is a beauty in the process of “letting go” and trusting in the quiet, unseen work that God does beneath the surface. Just as the trees release their leaves to prepare for a new season of growth, we too are often called to surrender our worries, our past seasons, and our control into the faithful hands of our Creator.

The prophet Isaiah reminds us: "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." — Isaiah 40:8

While the seasons around us shift and the world changes, we can find absolute peace in knowing that God’s love, God’s promises, and God’s grace remain entirely steadfast. God is our constant anchor.

So, we look ahead and stay connected through our faith practices and our fellowship. As we head into November, we have many wonderful opportunities to gather, serve, and grow together. Please take note of a few upcoming dates in our community life:

  • All Saints Sunday / Remembrance: This upcoming Sunday, we will take time to honor and remember those who have run the race before us and whose faith continues to inspire our journey.
  • Bible Study with Greg Keosian
  • “First Fruits” Food Pantry Collection
  • Stewardship Sunday and “Friends- Giving” Pot Luck Brunch on November 22 and more….

This week, I encourage you to take a few quiet moments during your busy routine to step outside, breathe in the cool air, and thank God for God’s unchanging faithfulness in your life. I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday!

Stewardship Message from Sunday, 10/25/26

Dear Friends,

“There Your Heart Will Be” — Matthew 6:21

What makes Pilgrim Church special? As Dan Romanelli shared with us this past Sunday, for many of us, it's the people. It's the familiar faces on Sunday mornings, the friendships formed over coffee, and the comfort of knowing we belong to a caring church family. Pilgrim Church is a place where we celebrate life's joys, support one another through challenges, and grow together in faith.

As we begin our Stewardship Campaign, we invite you to reflect on what Pilgrim Church means to you and how your generosity helps keep this special community thriving. As Dan reminded us, stewardship is about the three T's: Time, Talent, and Treasure. Each of us has something meaningful to offer.

Your pledge is more than a financial gift—it's an act of faith and an investment in the future of our church. Your generosity helps us:

  • Continue our mission and outreach work;
  • Nurture our music and youth ministries;
  • Support our staff and the day-to-day life of our church;
  • Strengthen our presence in the community and beyond.

Please take a moment to reflect and prayerfully consider your commitment for the coming year. We ask that you return your pledge card by November 19 and join us on Sunday, November 22, for our Stewardship Sunday and Thanksgiving Potluck—a joyful celebration of all God is doing among us.

We give thanks for your generosity, your faith, and the many ways you help keep our hearts centered on what we treasure most at Pilgrim Church.

As Matthew 6:21 reminds us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

With gratitude,

Barb Romanelli, Dan Romanelli, Janet Ritch & Don Wheeler

“THE EPISTLE OF PAUL TO THE GALATIANS”

An adult education series taught by Rev. Greg Keosaian

November 2nd, 9th, and 16th – from 7:00 – 8:30 PM

in the church library

It has sometimes been referred to as the Magna Carta of Christian Liberty, a relatively brief letter (by an often verbose Apostle Paul!), to the First Century Christians in Galatia, a region in central Asia Minor (part of modern day Turkey). The Church in Galatia was established by the Apostle during one of his three missionary journeys. This letter, believed to be written about the year 55 A.D., was in response to some apparently alarming news that came to Paul’s attention, regarding this fledgling Christian community.

But what in the world does a medical procedure sometimes performed on infant boys have to do with who is or is not a Christian? And yet, it has been suggested that without this brief treatise on the part of one of the earliest, and arguably the most significant proponents of our Faith, “Christianity” might well have been relegated to the dustbin of history; just one more, otherwise obscure religious sect that came and went!

So…who was this Saul/Paul? How did he go from “coat-check boy” at a public execution, to Christian Apostle and Theologian Extraordinaire!

And how did he come to write (or dictate) this incredibly passionate piece of literature that is so foundational to our Christian Faith?

I invite you to join me on five consecutive Monday evenings – November 2nd, 9th, and 16th – from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, in the Church Library. I will be preparing study guides for distribution. And please don’t hesitate to attend some or all of the sessions, as your schedule permits!

Rev. Greg Keosaian is an Honorably Retired Minister member of the Presbytery of Southern New England of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He and his wife, Elaine, have been attending Pilgrim Church since moving to Plymouth in the fall of 2023.
