As we celebrate the 250th Birthday of America on the 4th of July, we give thanks for the many freedoms we enjoy, especially the freedom to worship according to our own beliefs and conscience. One of America's greatest strengths is that people of many different faiths—and those with no religious faith—can live together with respect and peace.
That freedom has been protected by keeping church and state separate, that the government will be establish a state religion, allowing for our faith to grow from our own personal convictions rather than pressure, while protecting the rights and freedoms of every person.
As we gather with family and friends this Independence Day, may we celebrate not only our nation's 250th birthday, but also the values that continue to guide us: freedom, justice, and respect for one another. May we give thanks for the freedom to live out our faith while honoring the freedom of others to do the same. Together, may we help build a nation shaped by compassion, understanding, and hope.
Join us on the lawn if you are in the area on the 4th!
Hot dogs, freeze pops and cool glasses of water will be served!
