Dear Holy Name Families,

Mrs. Fitzgerald's and Ms. Fair's first graders enjoyed their fashion show this week showing off their 100th day of school T-shirts. Students adorned their shirts with band-aids, crayons, dogs, dinosaurs, balloons, and even the digits of Pi to celebrate their 100th day and passing the halfway mark of the school year.

With March 14th approaching, the 5th and 6th graders are learning about Pi and this week were practicing the Reader's Theater show that they will share with some of our younger students next week. In addition, the fourth grade held a trial during their study of the Boston Massacre (see photos and details below).

We are looking forward to warmer temperatures next week. Don't forget to turn the clocks ahead on Sunday.

Have a great weekend.

Best regards,

Mr. Chisholm

Holy Name Happenings - Through the Lens

Boston Massacre Trial Reenactment

Yesterday, March 5, 2026, Mrs. Foley's fourth grade classes participated in a powerful reenactment of the Boston Massacre Trial—256 years after the tragic event that occurred on March 5, 1770. Both sections, 4-7 and 4-8, took on different roles to bring this pivotal moment in American history to life as they tried Captain Thomas Preston, he was the commander of the troops involved in the Boston Massacre.

The two classes reached different verdicts: Class 4-7's jury voted to convict Preston, while Class 4-8 declared a mistrial. This divergence in outcomes sparked meaningful discussions about the complexities of justice and how evidence can be interpreted differently. (The original verdict - Captain Thomas Preston was found not guilty)

Through this hands-on learning experience, students gained a deeper understanding of a defining moment in our nation's past.

STEM in Second! Our second graders designed and built their own hockey nets and sticks. Each net had to stand on its own AND stop a puck. Working in pairs, students tackled real engineering challenges inspired by the Winter Olympics. Then came the best part—they tested their creations by playing table hockey!

Our young engineers learned collaboration, problem-solving, and design thinking while having a blast!

Adventure Awaits! Camp Eisner is Coming in May!

Our sixth graders are counting down the days to an unforgettable four-day outdoor adventure at Camp Eisner! This May, students will step into the world of Island of the Blue Dolphins as they develop real survival skills, explore science, and build teamwork in an immersive outdoor setting. From learning to thrive in nature to discovering their own resilience, this residential camp experience brings classroom learning to life in the most exciting way!
