Dear Holy Name Families,

Over the last few weeks, students have been discussing the meaning and importance of Lent. Following their discussions, some classes have made and shared their Lenten promises. Among some of the promises, students have expressed:

  • Helping mom and dad
  • Being kind to siblings
  • Including everyone
  • Be like Jesus

These promises are good reminders for us all during the final weeks of Lent as we prepare for Easter.

In preparation for St. Patrick's Day, students also reflected on what they consider to be more valuable than gold. Their most common responses are those people closest to them: "family, mom, and dad." Although they may not always show it, they do recognize the most important people in their lives. On Tuesday, we will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a green and gold casual day.

Next week, we also have Mass on Thursday for the Feast of St. Joseph. There is no school Friday for a faculty professional day.

Have a great weekend.

Best regards,

Mr. Chisholm

Holy Name Happenings - Through the Lens

Pi Day Magic in Mrs. Frye's Class

Mrs. Frye's fifth and sixth graders recently discovered the magic of Pi—and shared it with their third and fourth grade buddies by performing a play with Pi as the central character.

The students explored how dividing any circle's circumference by its diameter always produces the same remarkable number: Pi ≈ 3.14159...

This week, our first and second graders participated in an fun hands-on tinkering activity that focused on creativity, resourcefulness, and device-free learning! Tinkering encourages students to explore, experiment, and build using available materials without a specific end goal in mind—it's all about the process of discovery and letting imagination lead the way. Students were given a box full of recycled materials including cardboard tubes, paper cups, fabric, pompoms and other items and were challenged to create something useful, fun, or decorative. They had a great class and look forward to tinkering again!

3-5 is One Lucky Class! They are lucky because of their families!
