Dear Holy Name Families,

We marked the beginning of Lent with Mass sponsored by the fourth grade on Wednesday. On their way to Mass that morning, one of the fourth grade classes left me a special gift. In religion, they had written and illustrated their own Book of Psalms; an idea suggested by a student after reading one of the psalms. I was impressed with their use of language, the structure, prayerful tone, and the illustrations that accompanied each psalm. I'd like to share one of them here:

At the moment I wake up in the morning,

To the moment I sleep at night,

I will always worship you my Lord.

From the moment I was born,

I knew you were the only true God.

To the moment I die, I will aways worship you, O Lord.

It was a special moment for me to mark the beginning of Lent. As we continue into Lent, our 6th graders will be visiting classrooms and distributing Rice Bowls (more on that next week) and students in grades two through six will have the opportunity for confession.

Thank you to all the teachers and parents who participated in last weekend's basketball activities. We are looking forward to next week's Book Fair and hope to see many of you at this weekend's St. Patrick's Day party sponsored by the Parish!

Have a great weekend.

Best regards,

Mr. Daniel Chisholm

Principal

Moments Captured this Week at HNPS

On Ash Wednesday we received blessed ashes as a symbol of our commitment to following Jesus. Over the next 40 days of Lent we will engage in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Together, we are part of Jesus' team! Father Evans officiated with Father Ferme and our wonderful Grade 4 assisting.

Socks Donation Success!

Yesterday, Kimmie from the Cold Feet, Warm Hearts organization visited Holy Name to collect the hundreds of generously donated socks. During her visit, she highlighted the vital role that socks play in supporting the homeless community. Cold Feet, Warm Hearts partners with Boston Medical Center to provide essential warm clothing, and this year, they have faced significant shortages due to the prolonged cold winter. Kimmie expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the hundreds of pairs of socks we donated, which will greatly benefit those in need by keeping their feet warm! Thank you Holy Name for the donations and 6-11 for helping to load the car!

Basketball Season Wrap-Up and Upcoming Events!

As the basketball season comes to a close, we have some exciting events to share. Last weekend was filled with fun and competition as parents challenged their kids on the court. Additionally, our Faculty and Staff participated in a lively musical basket event with the 1st and 2nd grade teams!

We also celebrated our sixth graders, who received medals as they conclude their basketball careers at HNPS. Their hard work and dedication have truly made an impact on our school community.

To wrap up the season, Student Council will host a school-wide Pep Rally next week to celebrate a fantastic basketball season! We will get pumped up for the last games of the season! Go Eagles!
