Dear Holy Name Families,

Fifth grade ELA had a special guest instructor today. Mr. Richard English, Ms. English's father, visited the 5th grade to discuss his time as a naval aviator. He taught students about the navy, various aircraft, life aboard an aircraft carrier, and the science behind aviation.

Mr. English is also a retired educator who taught elementary science for 26 years. His comfort in a classroom was evident as he fielded great questions from the students. Students were truly engaged in this special lesson - making paper airplanes might have helped with that. After learning about lift, thrust, and drag, students designed paper airplanes and tried their best to land them on a moving aircraft carrier. We thank Mr. English for spending his day with us.

Our Lenten Teaching Masses wrapped up with the the 6th grade Mass on Wednesday. Students in 3rd and 4th grades received the sacrament of reconciliation on Monday. Second, fifth, and sixth grades will attend confession on April 14th.

As a reminder, our NEASC Visiting Team will be with us from Monday through Wednesday so you may see members of the team around the school's campus next week.

Have a great weekend.

Best regards,

Mr. Daniel Chisholm

Principal

Moments Captured this Week at HNPS

This week, Father Ferme led a Teaching Mass for our sixth-grade students. During his homily, he spoke about how God brings happiness into our lives. This Mass was part of our Lenten observance with our priest. We are looking forward to our upcoming school-wide Holy Week Mass in just alittle over two weeks!

K1 Teddy Bear Picnic Celebration!

Today, K1 enjoyed an outdoor teddy bear picnic to celebrate the conclusion of their unit on animals. The students gained a wealth of knowledge about the various animals that inhabit Massachusetts!

First graders explored various animals and created beautifully decorated dioramas as a concluding project for their animal unit of study. Great Job to the first graders!

The students in 2-3 wrote their aspirations for personal growth during Lent on heart-shaped decorations for their tree. Their wishes included themes such as Hope, Faith in God, Prudence, Charity, Generosity towards others, Love for one another, and Trust in God."
