Dear Holy Name Families,
Many students enjoyed some experiential learning away from our campus this week. Today, the second grade ventured to the Charleston Navy Yard to explore "Old Ironsides." After reading about the War of 1812, students had the opportunity to tour the USS Constitution and to learn more about its famed history in the museum. The trip brought the students' favorite unit of study to life.
Also, this week, fifth grade went on its annual trip to Fenway Park and View Boston. Students toured the ballpark and learned about the park and team's history. They are reading "We Are the Ship," which details the story of Jackie Robinson and the integration of baseball. Students then learned about the history, culture, and architecture of the city from atop the Prudential Center.
Yesterday, the 6th grade returned from it's weeklong adventure to Camp Eisner in Great Barrington. 6th graders hiked, fished, explored the outdoors, and enjoyed camp fires. The long running tradition is one of their final experiences at Holy Name and one they will remember for years to come.
Thank you to all the teachers and chaperones who made these trips possible.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Best regards,
Mr. Chisholm
