Dear Holy Name Families,

Over the last few weeks, students have been learning patriotic songs including the Star-Spangled Banner, God Bless America, and the Fifty Nifty United States. This morning students and teachers gathered in Parish Hall for morning assembly followed by a short concert to showcase the songs and recognize Memorial Day. Thank you to Ms. Chiappini and our students for a great performance this morning.

Yesterday, our 6th grade students returned from their annual camp trip. While we had a new location - Camp Eisner in Great Barrington, students had a great time bonding, exploring nature, and putting a capstone on their Holy Name experience. Thank you to Mr. Gordon, Mr. Reilly, and Mrs. Beatrice as well as Fr. Denis and Fr. Joseph for chaperoning.

Fortunately, the rain moved out in time for today's first grade field trip. The first graders took a walking tour of Boston led by Boston By Little Feet. Thank you to Mrs. Fitzgerald and Ms. Fair for organizing the trip and to Mrs. Gagnon and our parent chaperones for escorting the first graders.

Have a great long weekend.

Sincerely,

Mr. Daniel Chisholm

Principal

Moments Captured this Week at HNPS

Our 6th graders kicked off an exciting week on Monday at Camp Eisner in Great Barrington! The week began with engaging Field Group activities, followed by a special Mass celebrated by Father Ferme and Father Denis. After lunch, the fun continued with hands-on activities including Water Rockets, Fishing, Wood Carving, and Build a Civilization. As evening fell, students gathered around the campfire to enjoy delicious s'mores and share stories. It was a fantastic week filled with learning, adventure, and laughter!

This unforgettable experience wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of Parkway in Motion, West on Centre, Bertucci’s West Roxbury, Gormley Funeral Home, Chucky Bruen, P.E. Murray Funeral Home, Corrib Pub & the Bligh Family, Hair Escape, Dagmar’s Hair Salon, the DeSalvo Family, the Rush Family, Holy Name’s Bernardines, Home & School Association, Student Council, Antonio’s Bacari, and all who helped through candy sales, raffles, and bake sales.

Thank you to everyone who made Camp Eisner from May 19-22 possible for our 6th graders!

Mr. Tierney visited the fifth graders this week to give an engaging presentation on the history of Memorial Day. He explained the origins of the holiday and encouraged questions, making the session interactive and memorable for the class.

Fifth graders had an unforgettable day exploring Fenway Park with a fun tour, followed by breathtaking views from the Prudential Center’s observation deck, VIEW BOSTON!

Squid dissection in third grade! We had a very successful squid dissection class this week. This was the final project that we added to our Wit & Wisdom Module on the Sea. It was an exciting opportunity for the third graders to explore marine life and basic animal anatomy in a hands-on, engaging way. Thank you to all of the parent volunteers!
