Future Church is based in the belief that members, congregations, synods and the churchwide organization must work together to share the powerful witness of the gospel in the world and to invite more new, young and diverse people to experience God's grace in action. The new design identifies three priority areas:
- a welcoming church that engages new, young and diverse people;
- a thriving church rooted in tradition and radically relevant;
- and a connected, sustainable church that shares in a common purpose and direction
In this presentation, originally made to Rostered Ministers around the ELCA, Presiding Bishop Eaton — along with the Rev. Philip Hirsch, Executive Director of Domestic Mission, and Mikka McCracken, Executive for Innovation ― explains:
- What is Future Church?
- What specific hopes do we have for our ministries?
- What are our next steps?

Considerations from the Synod Personnel Committee
|
Given the challenges of this last year, the Synod Personnel Committee invites ministry settings to consider the suggestions found in this document as a way to say thank you, provide sabbath, and offer compensation. Please be sure to share this with your Personnel or Mutual Ministry committee where possible. If a congregation has neither of these entities, please share with the Executive Committee of the congregation council.

Congregation Parochial Report (Form A/C)
|
This annual report is to be completed by each congregation online for our churchwide partners.
Please do NOT print them out and mail to the synod. Your congregation office should have received a password from churchwide in December. If you need assistance, please contact Traci in our office.
NOTE: Guidance from the ELCA for reporting PPP loans:
It would be very helpful if congregations note on the respective lines the amount of the PPP loan:
For congregations that received a PPP Loan that has NOT yet been forgiven:
· Record the amount of the loan that was received on Line 17e as a cash receipt
· Record the loan as debt on Line 19.
For congregations that received a PPP Loan that has been forgiven:
· Record the amount of the loan that was received on Line 17e as a cash receipt
NOTE: Tracking online attendance - find guidance from the ELCA here

Davey & Goliath - Happy 60th!
|
For many children of the 1960s and 1970s, it was a familiar scene: Sunday-morning sunlight pouring in through the window as they sprawled on the living room floor. From the TV, a voice bellowed: “Oh, Da-a-a-vey.” The voice belonged to young Davey’s talking dog, Goliath, in the stop-motion animated series Davey and Goliath that premiered 60 years ago, in February 1961. Living Lutheran’s feature story “An Animated Anniversary” lifts up what the iconic series did for the church and includes a timeline of milestones and quotes from Lutherans about what the series means to them.
