Revelation: What's it all about?

Starting Sundays, October 4 – November 22, 2026

at 6:00 PM -7:30 PM

Online via Zoom or Google Calendar ICS

The biblical book of Revelation is strange, seemingly mysterious, and often controversial. It's been mentioned in politics and war. We'll take a close look at Revelation, the apocalyptic genre, Revelation's reception history, and many of the interpretive moves that various groups make. We'll work to examine this text and its message to determine whether it can inspire us to embrace its final words – “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.”

Clergy and Laity are invited and encouraged to participate. Register online by using the button below,

Rev. Jeff Moore, DMin, PhD is Affiliate Professor of Biblical Studies and Theological Method at Eden Theological Seminary, and serves as Pastor of Webster Groves Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Jeff has taught and written about Revelation for the past decade, and is currently working on a book-length project connecting Revelation with popular culture themes.

This is our first session of Disciples U, which was created to provide opportunities for laity to grow in their faith and understanding of who we are as Disciples and to whom we belong through offering studies and discussions in the areas of Biblical Studies, Congregational Development, Ethics & Justice, and Theology. These will occur online once per quarter, with some opportunities for in-person workshops/studies.

These opportunities are specifically designed for laity, though commissioned and ordained clergy may take them to satisfy the professional development obligations, with a minor addition of providing a reflection paper.

Help Our Dad, Michael Williams, Beat Esophageal Cancer

The Urgent Financial Need and How Your Support Helps

Every dollar raised goes directly toward...

Household Expenses: Covering his monthly rent, utilities, and everyday essentials so he keeps a stable, safe home while severe pain and chemotherapy prevent him from working.

Medical Care and Prescriptions: Paying monthly insurance premiums to keep coverage active, meeting deductibles, covering chemotherapy copays, and purchasing medications.

Treatment Travel: Covering fuel, vehicle upkeep, and clinic travel expenses for frequent oncology appointments, blood work, and imaging scans.

While he is fighting to endure the physical toll of this diagnosis, the loss of his ability to work has created an immediate crisis. At the end of the day, this fundraiser is about far more than bills and copays, it is about buying time and keeping our dad safe while he fights to heal.

BEING A GOOD NEIGHBOR to Tornado Victims

Our Neighbor Fund helps neighbors near and far in a number of important ways! Please consider a generous gift to the Neighbor Fund during 2026. We are currently asking for donations to the Neighbor Fund to assist with tornado relief in the STL area. We will be coordinating with Centennial Christian Church and other partners to assess how best to use the funds. Please remember that the NEED for food/toiletries/cleaning supplies goes on--it is not a one-time "fix."

The Neighbor Fund is maintained by our congregation, and is used at our

pastor's discretion to aid those within our congregation and those from our wider

community with one-time emergency assistance.

Our congregational budget includes money for the Neighbor Fund, but the majority of income from the fund comes from generous and faithful designated gifts by WGCC members. In addition to your regular support of our budgeted mission and ministry, please consider a one-time or ongoing gift to the Neighbor Fund.

The Shepherd’s Center started its programs and services with just a few volunteers and one focus: a passion to serve. Today, they have over 200 volunteers that contribute to helping older adults stay actively engaged in life. Not only do they thrive, so does the community as people of all ages are enriched by the wisdom, stories and legacy of those in their later years.

GREETINGS, ONLINE DONORS!

Just a reminder that, if you make your church donations via online banking or investment bankers, please remember to change the address of the church to:

Webster Groves Christian Church c/o

308 Summit Ave

St. Louis, MO 63119

Thank you for your ongoing support!

WGCC members and friends are encouraged to contact the church office or Sally Smith if you are interested in helping with this program – either on the third Thursday, or any Thursday!

Pray with Germany, October 25, 2026

Lectionary Selection: Matthew 22:34-46

Prayers for Germany

God, when we follow your great commandment to love our neighbour as ourselves, we realise how much the current political changes and challenges in Germany affect us. So many people voted for the far-right political party, the (AfD). This party not only criticises us and church-state relations, but also what we stand for: a diverse, open, affirming, just and caring society for all who have lived in our country for generations or only a short time.

You know that we sometimes avoid discussions and debates within our families and congregations where people hold very different views.

Therefore, we ask you to help us find clear words and mindful expressions with which to speak about what we are committed to. Help us to continue the discussion and demonstrate through our actions, involvement, and example what the consequences of your commandment should be today and tomorrow. Let us translate into action and words the fact that your son excluded no one from the neighbourhood.

We ask this in the name of your Son, who taught us to love.

Amen.
