Shop Local for the Holidays

Remember to shop local this Holiday season and support all your favorite locally-owned businesses. Holiday Recycling Guide

Holiday celebrations are in full swing and with all of this comes a lot of extra waste. It’s hard not to notice the full trash and recycling containers on collection days during December, but did you know that during the Holiday season Americans generate 25% more waste? Knowing the most environmentally beneficial ways to dispose of everyday Holiday products such as wrapping paper, cardboard, and soiled-paper products is essential. When not disposed of correctly or just thrown in the trash, this standard Holiday trash can pollute the environment and increase waste in landfills.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents can recycle Christmas trees and Holiday botanical decorations by placing them inside your green organics waste cart on your collection day from December 26, 2022 through January 6, 2023. Please remember to follow EDCO's guidelines when setting out your Christmas tree for curbside collection. Drop-off sites will also be available from December 26, 2022 through January 6, 2023 at City Hall, located at 635 Hwy 101, and and the La Colonia Community Center parking lot, located at 715 Valley Avenue.

City Hall Holiday Closure

In observance of the upcoming Holidays, City Hall and all non-essential City buildings will be closed from Monday, December 26, 2022 through Monday, January 2, 2023. Essential City services and emergency response will be available during this time.


Regular City Hall hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2022. Have a wonderful Holiday season and a Happy New Year!

No EDCO Service Delays

Please be advised that there will be NO SERVICE DELAYS this Holiday season. Due to both Christmas and New Year's falling on a Sunday, all collections will be provided on the regularly scheduled service days for the weeks of December 26 - December 30, 2022 and January 2 - January 6, 2023.


Please continue to place your bins curbside on your regular collection day!

Citizen Commission Openings

Applications will be accepted until January 17, 2023, which will be distributed to Council for consideration with the Agenda Packet on January 18, 2023. Appointments are scheduled to take place at the January 25, 2023 Council Meeting.

  • BUDGET & FINANCE: Three (3) vacancies - terms will expire end of January 2025
  • CLIMATE ACTION: Five (5) vacancies – terms will expire end of January 2025
  • PARKS & RECREATION: Four (4) vacancies – terms will expire end of January 2025
  • PUBLIC ARTS: Four (4) vacancies – terms will expire end of January 2025
  • VIEW ASSESSMENT: Three (3) vacancies – terms will expire end of January 2025
