Weekly Updates are Moving to Thursdays!

Starting in the new year, the City's Weekly Updates will be posted on Thursdays!

Christmas Tree Recycling

As a reminder, residents can recycle Christmas trees and Holiday botanical decorations by placing them inside your green organics waste cart on your collection day from December 26, 2022 through January 6, 2023. Please remember to follow EDCO's guidelines when setting out your Christmas tree for curbside collection. Drop-off sites are also available through January 6, 2023 at City Hall, located at 635 Hwy 101, and La Colonia Community Center parking lot, located at 715 Valley Avenue.

Household Hazardous Waste Guideline

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is unused or leftover portions of products containing hazardous chemicals used around your household, including your garden and vehicles. It is dangerous and illegal to discard HHW into the trash, storm drain, or down the sewer.

The good news is that the City has a comprehensive and convenient HHW disposal program that offers two ways to quickly and easily dispose of your HHW. The first option is to take your HHW to permanent facilities in Poway or Vista where residents can dispose of these materials free of charge. The second option is to schedule a home pick-up for a small co-pay of $10 for residents (or free of charge for homebound or residents over the age of 65). For more information click the Learn More tab below.

City Hall Plastic Bag & Battery Drop-Off Program

Did you know you can recycle your household batteries and clean single-use plastic bags at City Hall? The City has drop-off bins located inside of City Hall for these common, but hard to properly dispose of, items.

Single-use plastic bags should not be placed in the recycling cart because they are not recyclable and cause damage to EDCO’s materials sorting machines. Instead, you can collect clean plastic bags that have not been contaminated by food or other material, and drop them off at City Hall. They are then compressed into bales and sent to be recycled into building materials.

Batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, are dangerous to place into the trash or recycling containers at home because they cause contamination at the recycling facility and can cause dangerous fires due to their high flammability.

City Hall Holiday Closure

No EDCO Service Delays

Essential City services and emergency response will be available during this time. Regular City Hall hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2022.

Please be advised that there will be NO SERVICE DELAYS this Holiday season.
