Weekly Update
February 17, 2021
From the President
Dear Bishop Blanchet families,

Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season when we are called in a special way to turn our hearts toward God to become more loving and merciful to ourselves and our neighbors. Although this year we are not assembled together to begin this Lenten journey, my prayer is that we always remember to carry the mark of Christ’s love in our hearts and extend His grace in service to others. Please also keep in prayer the newly accepted BBHS Class of 2025 - may every member if the incoming freshman class feel the warmth and welcome of the Bishop Blanchet community!

Blessings,

Tony DeSapio
President

HEALTHSHIELD REGISTRATION
All students and families must participate in Bishop Blanchet’s health screening protocols, which include a parent or guardian attesting to their student’s health. Students will not be permitted on campus or allowed to participate in any school sponsored activity without a verified and current health screening. If you have not yet registered your student, click here to learn more about the registration process. If you have any questions, please email Chris Bilanko, Dean of Students.

As a reminder, the Bishop Blanchet HealthShield number is (855) 952-3601. We encourage all parents and guardians to save this as a contact in their cell phone.

REQUIRED REPORTING OF POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19
If a student or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, families must notify the Dean’s Office by contacting Chris Bilanko, Dean of Students, and follow the BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols prior to returning to campus or participating in any school sponsored activity. This information will remain confidential and allow the school to initiate its communication protocols. Any student who does not follow BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols will face disciplinary consequences and may be prohibited from participating in on-campus learning and extracurricular activities. In the event of a positive case in our student body, faculty or staff, Bishop Blanchet will communicate to the entire community and work directly with families if their student is impacted.

STRESS AND ANXIETY SKILLS GROUP
The Counseling Department is excited to offer a Stress and Anxiety Skills Group for Freshmen and Sophomores beginning Wednesday, March 3. This group is open to 9th and 10th graders who are interested in learning new ways to cope with anxiety while connecting with others. Together we will learn about anxiety, explore ways to manage anxious thoughts and feelings, and experiment with facing fears in a supportive environment. This group will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 12-1p.m.

If your student is interested in participating, please fill out this survey. A counselor will reach out to your student directly to inquire about their interest and to assess for fit. Please note that space is limited, but we hope to run this group again in the future!

FRESHMAN LUNCH GROUPS
Is your student interested in joining a Freshman Lunch Group this semester? These groups are a great way for freshmen to get to know one another and connect. The exact format of these groups will depend on the level of interest, so please encourage your student to fill out this survey if they’d like to participate.

BOOSTER CLUB SPONSORS "FANS IN THE STANDS!"
Even though in-person fan attendance will not be permitted during Season 1 per the Metro League, the BBHS Booster Club and Athletic Department are teaming up to provide you the chance to "get in the stands" as a cutout! You've seen this in NCAA and professional sports leagues - now it's BBHS's turn! The Booster Club is subsidizing the cost of cutout, to make it easier to "get you in the stands!"

If interested, please:
  • Upload an individual, front angle photo of yourself (head and shoulders). Sorry, no group photos can be accommodated.
  • Name the file your first and last name.
  • Indicate where you'd like your cutout displayed (Mickey Naish Field or Gilligan-Wilkinson Court).
  • Click here to upload your image and pay for your cutout

Images must be received and paid for by Wednesday, February 24. The cutout order information will also be posted on the Athletic Page of our website.
