Lutheran Disaster Response:
Eastern Europe crisis response

Lutheran Disaster Response is accompanying companion churches and ecumenical partners as they respond to the crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. There are major humanitarian concerns for both internally displaced people and refugees.

Partners including the Lutheran World Federation and Church World Service are providing refugees with immediate support and supplies such as food, blankets, water and hygiene kits. Care for people also includes pastoral and psychological support to address the trauma they’ve endured.

Use this bulletin insert to encourage support in your congregation. Gifts designated “Eastern Europe Crisis Response” will be used entirely to provide support for people impacted by conflict in the region.

Support refugee and immigrant teenagers here in King County by becoming a licensed foster parent. Currently, there is an urgent need for foster homes for youth who have fled Afghanistan, and an ongoing need for foster homes for youth from Guatemala and Honduras. All are in the U.S. alone and in need of long-term foster families to welcome them. At this orientation, our staff will share an overview of the youth we serve, the supports we offer foster families, and the basics of the licensing process.

There will be time for your questions, too.
