Weekly Update
March 3, 2021
From the President
Dear BBHS families,

We are feeling especially blessed to be into our fifth week of in-person, hybrid learning on campus. We appreciate every effort you and your students are taking to closely follow our health and safety protocols and our COVID-19 Community Pledge. The health and safety of our community and our ability to remain in person depends on our collective commitment.

Out of State Travel Updates
Effective Wednesday, March 3, Bishop Blanchet is adopting CDC guidelines for all out of state travel. Those returning from out of state have two quarantine options:
  1. Forgo a COVID-19 test and quarantine for 10 days upon return from out of state travel. After day 10, eligible to return to in-person learning and in-person activities.
  2. Get tested 5 days after travel and stay home/self quarantine for the full 7 days after out of state travel, even with a negative test.
  • Those that decide to return after 7 days are required to submit their negative COVID-19 test result to the Dean's Office prior to returning to in-person learning and in-person activities.

Families traveling out of state are required to complete this form. School personnel will communicate a return date for in-person learning and in-person activities. We feel it is important to reiterate that public health guidance is to avoid non-essential travel. This protocol has been developed to address the occurrence of essential travel. If you have any questions, please contact the Dean’s Office

Calendar Update - Change to Remote Learning Model April 12-16
For the week of April 12-16, we will be shifting to remote learning for all students. We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution to allow for adequate time for quarantining and testing before resuming in-person, hybrid learning following Easter Break. Our plan is to resume in-person, hybrid learning on Monday, April 19.

As a reminder to all, whether on campus or at home, whether on the weekends or over a break, we are all committing to follow our COVID-19 Community Pledge. Failure to follow these expectations may result in the loss of in-person learning and activities. Over these first five weeks of in-person learning, we have been pleased with everyone’s commitment and our expectation is that we all do everything we need to do to remain healthy and safe through the remainder of the year.

Sincerely,

Tony DeSapio
President

HEALTHSHIELD UPDATES
To align with our revised quarantine timeline for all out of state travel, the HealthShield will now ask:
  • In the last 10 days, or 7 days with a negative COVID-19 test, have you:
  • Traveled outside of the state of Washington?
  • Been in contact with anyone who has a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis?
  • Been notified that you may have been exposed to COVID-19?

REQUIRED REPORTING OF POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19
If a student or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, families must notify the Dean’s Office by contacting Chris Bilanko, Dean of Students, and follow the BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols prior to returning to campus or participating in any school sponsored activity. This information will remain confidential and allow the school to initiate its communication protocols. Any student who does not follow BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols will face disciplinary consequences and may be prohibited from participating in on-campus learning and extracurricular activities. In the event of a positive case in our student body, faculty or staff, Bishop Blanchet will communicate to the entire community and work directly with families if their student is impacted.

A special shout out to all the volunteers who joined us at the Senior Class Luminary Event last Sunday. What a great night for the Class of 2021! A special thank you to parents Kari Hatlen and Michelle Summers for spearheading this event, along with Mr. Grassechi and the Senior Class Cabinet.

If so, we will alert the BBHS community right away.
