SOLIDARITY SLEEPOUT: APRIL 5-6

On Wednesday-Thursday, April 5-6, Bishop Blanchet will host a Solidarity Sleepout to demonstrate solidarity and support for those who are unhoused in our greater community. This is an overnight retreat during which students will complete service hours and explore more deeply the challenges and realities faced by those who lack permanent shelter. Students will build a "tent city" in the BBHS quad and sleep there overnight. Interested students should sign up here.

KAIROS 73 RETREAT: OPEN TO JUNIORS AND SENIORS APRIL 18-21

Kairos 73 will take place Tuesday-Friday, April 18-21 and is open to both juniors and seniors. Kairos ("God's Time") embodies the value of Christian faith as lived and experienced in community. Students are given the opportunity over a three-night/four-day retreat to look within themselves and find true identity as people in relationship with God, family, and friends. Juniors who attend will be eligible to be Kairos retreat leaders next fall. Interested students should complete this form by this Friday, March 10, or see Mr. Cussen with any questions.

SCHOLARSHIP OFFER LETTERS

As your senior receives scholarship offers for college, please email a copy of every scholarship offer letter to Ms. Moehring in the Counseling Center, so we can recognize your senior's achievement in the end of the year programming. CLASS OF 2023 PARENTS: VOLUNTEER NOW FOR LAST BLAST!

This event is top secret, so please do not share any details with our students!

Last Blast is a long-standing post-graduation tradition for BBHS seniors. This all-night party is a great way for our grads to create one more memory from their senior year and bookend their BBHS experience.

Graduates are dropped off at BBHS after graduation (at approximately 9:30 p.m.), where they will board buses and travel to top secret locations for an all-night soiree. Buses will return students to BBHS in the early morning (at approximately 5:30 a.m.) for pickup by parents.

We need 8 all-night chaperones and 6 games chaperones to ensure this event runs smoothly. Sign up here to help, and take one last opportunity to gather with this great class of students and fellow parent volunteers! Registration for this night to remember will be coming soon.

COLLEGE CONFERENCES FOR JUNIORS AND PARENTS

Juniors received an email last week from their counselor, inviting them to sign up for their college conference. Parents and guardians are invited to join these meetings remotely; please speak with your juniors and have your student sign up for a time that works for your family. Meetings will take place through May 2023 in a hybrid model, with students and counselors in person, and parents/guardians joining via Zoom. The goal of this meeting is to discuss the student's plan for their college search and application process, regardless of where they may be along this journey. Students should be ready to discuss some of these topics during the meeting:

  • possible majors or career interest areas
  • priorities for your college search (locations, majors, cost, size, etc.)
  • standardized testing plans and results
  • potential list of colleges
  • using MaiaLearning in the college search process
  • one or two possibilities for teacher recommendations
