Home is the key to connection, well-being and stability - and McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity is working to fill a tremendous need for affordable homeownership.

Oregon's 2024 State of the State's Housing Report shows a rising number of people without a safe place to call home.

• When adjusted for population size, Oregon ranks 3rd in the nation for people experiencing homelessness. 
• Wages are not keeping up with home prices. For every $1 Oregonians earned in wage increases between 2013 and 2022, the median sales price of a home increased by $7.10,
• The renter cost burden is on the rise, with tens of thousands of new households struggling to keep up. Additionally, more than 27% of all renters are severely cost-burdened, meaning they spend 50% or more of their income on housing. 

During National Fair Housing Month, Home is the Key reminds us that when homeownership is accessible to everyone, we all benefit.

Pickleball Palooza!

March 18-April 20: "Home is Where the Heart is" Art Show at Currents Gallery! 25% of sales made during the show's run will be donated to McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity.

Satuday, April 19, 10am: Egg Hunt at the MacHabitat ReStore! Hunt will begin promptly at 10am, until all eggs found. Limit 10 eggs per kiddo. We will also have "bunny bargains" for the grown-ups, with special sales up to 75% OFF select items!

Friday, April 25, 5-7pm: Black Dog Vineyard Hope Builder Social! - Join us April 25th, from 5:00-7:00pm at Black Dog Vineyard in Carlton. It is 21+ only. Beverages will be available for purchase, including beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages (no outside beverages are allowed). Feel free to bring a light appetizer or dessert for the event/potluck. There will be games indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Donations to MacHabitat are welcome during the event.

MAY 1-31, 6-8pm: Eat at Honey Pie Pizza's "Pie With Purpose" to support MacHabitat! A portion of each specialty pie-of-the-month will benefit our home/repair programs.

Thursday, May 29: FIRST Farmer's Market! MacHabitat will have a booth from 11:30am-5:30pm at 1st & Cowls St, McMinnville.

Hey Oregon wine country – does your winery have any empty barrels in need of a new home? Consider donating them to the McMinnville Area Habitat ReStore!

Our ReStore volunteer, Richard, makes beautiful handcrafted furniture from repurposed wine barrels – the pieces are then sold in our ReStore to benefit our affordable home construction and repair programs. This is a great way to recycle your barrels AND give back to the community!
