St Vincent de Paul Conference
and OLG Parish’s overwhelming response to the Covid-19 crisis has and continues to be impressive. Thanks to generous gifts from the Parish, our SVdP Conference was able to deliver approximately $23,000 in Goods and Services to 320 individuals in April alone – a new Conference high by far. On top of that we’ve been able to leverage Parish donations to achieve matching financial donations from other sources, which allows us to do even more. It is so heartwarming to know that we are part of such a loving and generous community here at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Having said all that, the challenge ahead remains daunting with many experiencing great need. This is especially true for the poorest among our West Seattle neighbors, i.e., those living on the margins, those unable to work, and those who do not qualify for public assistance programs. Our priority during this difficult time is helping with rent so as to keep a roof over our neighbor’s heads. While the current moratorium on evictions and late fees offers some respite, it benefits us to help as many people as possible to pay rent now, (so long as our finances permit) versus waiting and having an impossibly high debt and potentially even greater eviction threat after the moratorium is lifted. Moreover, the first half of May has shown no sign of let-up in number of help requests received. As such, your generosity is greatly appreciated, so that together under guidance from the Holy Spirit we can accomplish God’s ultimate will that we all be one. Please continue to support St Vincent de Paul by sending your contributions to the Parish office.
