Upcoming 2021 Holiday Schedule
The City of Coronado will observe the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. The City reminds residents that all municipal facilities, except the Golf Course, will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The Golf Course will be open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day but will close at 1 p.m. Public Services crews will not sweep streets and EDCO will not perform regular residential trash collection on the observed holidays, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. As such, there will be a one-day delay in trash collection. Certain City of Coronado departments and services have various hours of operation on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. See schedule right.

Online Holiday Shopping Precautions
The holiday season is a busy time filled with shopping and gatherings with family and friends. If you are shopping online, take some precautions to make sure your packages do not end up in the hands of a thief. Here are some tips from the Coronado Police Department:
- Only have a package delivered if you are going to be at home.
- Consider signing for packages so you know they have arrived.
- Check for packages throughout the day and bring the package inside immediately.
- Check to see if your shipping company has digital alerts and reschedule if you will not be home.

Port Master Plan Update Deadline Extended
The deadline to submit comments on the Port of San Diego’s updated Port Master Plan has been extended to 5 p.m. on Jan. 10. The public is encouraged to provide feedback. The Master Plan is a water and land use plan that designates specific areas of San Diego Bay and the waterfront for maritime, fishing, visitor-serving commercial, recreational, conservation, and institutional uses. The plan determines where port activities should take place, where recreational amenities should be located, and where commercial uses like hotels and visitor-serving retail may be built. To learn more and to review the documents, visit the Port Master Plan Update page on the Port’s website, portofsandiego.org.

Tennis Court Lighting: The new LED lights on the north side of the Coronado High School tennis courts were completed last week. The installation of LED lights on the south side courts are scheduled to be complete this week including the work to paint the poles with corrosion resistant paint. Photometric light readings were taken at the Glorietta Tennis Complex and the Aquatics Center this week, to confirm that light levels meet International Tennis Federation Class II standards for tennis and the two specifications required for aquatics: 1) Illuminating Engineering Society standards for pools and pool decks with high activity and 2) NCAA illuminance targets for intercollegiate play for swimming pools. The light reading also will confirm the spill light levels are met to minimize light trespass into neighborhoods. Junction box painting, removal of extraneous existing light fixtures, and capping of existing pole holes will occur at a later date. The new LED lights turn on instantly. There is no warm-up period.
